Field Work Activity2 Applying Pace Factor
Field Work Activity2 Applying Pace Factor
In this activity we apply the pace factor in determining distances. In the next activity
we can validate how effective the pace factor by measuring distance by different method.
Objective
To apply pace factor in measuring distances
Equipment/Instruments:
Field Book
Calculator
Procedures:
1. The group leader should assign his/her members on the location where they
will measure distances.
2. Make a sketch of the location, mark the designated distances.
3. Let the members walk and count their pace on their designated areas. For
more accuracy make them walk again on the opposite direction.
4. Record the data, and compute the mean.
5. Compute the length of the measured distance by multiplying the no. of pace by
pace factor
a. For example
Pedro has a pace factor of 0.71 and measured the distance of the
hallway of Civil Engineering building with 48 steps
0.71 x 48 = 34.08 meters
6. Tabulate the data
