Project Resource

Management
By Shaun Dass, PhD Candidate
Project resource management is a subset of project
management that deals with the allocation, scheduling,
and utilization of resources to achieve project goals 1.
It involves identifying the resources required for a
project, estimating their availability, and assigning
them to specific tasks. Project resource management
also involves monitoring the progress of the project and
making adjustments to the resource allocation as
needed.
On the other hand, resource planning is a broader concept
that encompasses all aspects of resource utilization in an
organization. It involves identifying the resources required to
achieve organizational goals, estimating their availability, and
allocating them to different projects. Resource planning also
involves monitoring the utilization of resources across
different projects and making adjustments as needed.
In summary, project resource management is focused on
managing resources within a specific project, while
resource planning is focused on managing resources across
multiple projects and organizational goals.
