(iii) Board’s letter No. 2003/TT-IV/9/3/Rake list Jumbo

In terms of Board’s letter under reference at (i) above, trainload benefit is accorded to
consignments booked from a single booking point to an approved two point combination or from an
approved two point to single destination subject to fulfilment of stipulated terms and conditions.

Vide Board’s letter at (ii) above, it was advised that two point block rakes would be granted
the benefit of trainload rates for the entire distance of transportation on end- to- end basis.

Some Railways have sought clarification regarding the calculation of freight in such cases.
With a view to clarify, a few illustrative examples have been given below:

A
40 BCNs
C 15 BCNs

If 40 BCNs are booked from point ‘A’ with 25 BCNs destined for point ‘B’ and 15 BCNs for
point ‘C’, the freight would be worked out as under:
(a) Calculate the freight at trainload class for 25 BCNs from point ‘A’ to point ‘ B’.

(b) Calculate the freight at trainload class for 15 BCNs from point ‘A’ to point ‘C’.

(c) Total freight = (a) + (b).

If 25 BCNs are booked from point ‘A’ and 15 BCNs are booked from point ‘B’ and two
parts of the rake are combined at point ‘B’ which is moved upto the

destination point ‘C’, then the freight would be worked out as under:

(b) Calculate the freight at trainload class for 15 BCNs from point ‘B’ to point ‘C’.

(c) Total freight = (a) + (b).

The freight for a Two point rake from point ‘C’ to two points ‘B’ and ‘A’, in the reverse
