Problem

Quix MCM Hardware Troubleshooting Guide


Tension value saturated high
Likely Causes: 1) Defective wiring between WFMD & Tension device 2) Corrupted content in WFM-TMDI static RAM
3) Corrupted WFM-TMDI or FEC FLASH ROMs 4) Improper tension gain settings 5) Defective WFM-DTI2 card

Solution
Reset Tension gain calibration to 1.
On the WFDD, click the calibration button.
- Enter 0 into High Calibrator and Measured value,
click Store High Setpoint button.
Yes Perform complete tension recalibration
- Enter 0 into Low Calibrator and Measured value, Done
procedure.
click Store Low Setpoint button.
- Enter 0 as User Zero Offset Adjust value,
click OK and exit.
Did it work?

No

Replace WFM TDMI card (H70780D). Yes Done


Did it work?

No

Connect a short circuit across J16-R J16-S (at rear of WFMD). Check wiring from plug J16 up to
Is the tension now low? Yes Tension device. Repair if necessary. Done
Did it work? Swap tension device.

No

Replace WFM DTI-2 card. Yes Done


Did it work?
No

Update TMDI if FEC FLASH ROMs


recycle complete power to WAFE. Yes Done
