MORAL EVALUATION AND DECISION
A framework that helps
analyze ethical dilemmas by
considering four key aspects:
the act, the consequences,
the intention, and the
character.
Intention

refers to the underlying motivation or purpose

behind an action. It seeks to understand
whether the intention behind an act is morally
justified or morally questionable.

Intention alone does not

justify or excuse harmful
acts.
the intention plays a crucial role

CONCLUSION and Decision.

helps us understand the underlying

motivations behind actions and
assess their ethical value.

considering the intention along with

other factors, we can make more
informed and nuanced judgments
about the morality of a given
situation.
Prior Intention in Human Actions
with Prior Intention
DIRECT ACTIONS
These actions involve a
conscious and premeditated
motivation present in the mind
of the agent before executing
the action.

The doer knows the end target

of the act and intends to
achieve a specific outcome.

Moral evaluation of these

actions considers the intention
behind them as a crucial
factor.
Prior Intention in Human Actions
with Incidental
INDIRECT ACTIONS Consequences
In contrast, indirect actions do
not have a prior intention but
rather result as a consequence
of unplanned actions.

The incidental consequences

or side effects are not part of
the original intention.

They can be considered

collateral effects or
concomitant consequences in
legal terms.
