Family Watercolor Hand Print

This painting activity captures the hands of the entire family. This craft was adapted
from the Pink Stripey Socks blog and offers a hand-inspired twist on watercolors.

Supplies:
• A piece of white 8 ½ x 11 paper (Cardstock
was used here)
• A pencil or a pen
• A permanent marker/Sharpie
• Watercolor paint
• A small pitcher and bowl
• A paper towel or sponge for cleanup
• An underlay to protect the workspace

Directions:
1. Use a pencil or pen to trace the hands of each family member onto a piece of
cardstock or watercolor paper.
2. Use a permanent marker or Sharpie to go over the tracings to create an outline that
will not bleed when watercolors are applied.
3. Fill the small pitcher with water and pour the water into the dish.
4. Paint the handprints using a variety of watercolors. Rinse the brush between colors.
5. Place the artwork in a safe place and allow it to dry.
6. Use the paper towel to clean up any spills.
