INTRODUCTION
In this module you will be guided to access and install softwareupdates. At the end
of this module you will be able to understand the importance of software update and learn
how to turn on windows automatic updates.
WHAT TO KNOW
Security
• Protection against threats: viruses, theft, hackers, natural disasters
• Old software are much more vulnerable

Decrease costs
• Upgrading a software/hardware component means less costs than replacing the
system
Upgrading Hardware:
1. RAM
- more RAM better Multi-tasking
2. HARD DRIVE
- faster hard drive means faster PC
- faster spin means faster data read and write
3. PROCESSOR
- faster CPU means faster PC
- number of cores and speed, compatibility with motherboard

3. Once in Settings, scroll down and click on Update & Security
4. In the Update & Security window click Check for Updates if necessary. To check if
your updates are paused, click Advanced Options.
Some feature updates will need to be manually enabled even when automatic
updates are turned on. To do this go to, Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update
and select Check for updates. Once the update appears, you can select
Download and install now.
