2)−√ 25=¿ 5 7)√ 0.16 = 0.4
3)√ 49=¿  7 8)√ 36 = 6
4)−√ 64=¿  8 9)√ 16/25 =4/5
5)√ −121=¿ 11i 10)√ 169/256 =13/16
Questions:
a) How did you find each Square root?(multiplying a
number by itself)
b) How many square roots does a number have? Explain
your answer. ( two, because any number multiplied
by itself will result to the given number.)
c) Does a negative number have a square root? (Yes, but
it is imaginary).
d) Describe the following numbers : √ 8 , √ 40 , √ 60,
−√ 90 .Are the numbers rational numbers? Irrational
numbers? (irrational)
e) How do you describe rational numbers? Irrational?
Rational Numbers-any number that can be expressed as
The quotient or fraction of two integers.
Irrational Numbers- a real number that can Not be made
by dividing two integers.
INTEGRATION TO OTHER LEARNING AREAS:
Guide Questions :
1) Do you know what are roots?
2)In your science subject, what are the functions of the
roots?
( Answers may vary)

B. Establishing a Motive Questions:

purpose for the lesson 1) How did you find the activity?
2) Did the activity provide you information about our
topic for today?
3) Who can guess on what is our topic for today?
C. Presenting examples GROUP ACTIVITY: What would make a statement true?
of the new lesson Direction: Solve each equation in as many ways as you
can. Answer the questions that follow.
1) x + 7 = 12 (ans: x=5) 3) -7x = -28(ans: x= 4)
2) 2s = 16 (ans: s=8) 4) 2(3k-1) = 28(ans:k=5)
Questions:

Expected answer: by applying the steps on solving

linear equations.
b)What mathematics concept/s or principles did you
apply to come up with the solution of each equation?
Expected answer:

Explain how you applied these.( answers may vary)

c) Compare the solutions you got with those of your
classmates. Did you arrive at the same answers? If not
why? ( answers may vary)

D. Discussing new GROUP ACTIVITY:Learn To Solve Quadratic Equation!!

concepts and Direction: Use the quadratic equations below to answer
practicing new skills the questions that follow.
#1 1) x = 36
2
2)t2 -64 =0
3) 2s2 -98 =0 4) r2 =0
5) w = -9

Questions : ( answers are highlighted)

a) Describe and compare the given equations. What
statement can you make?( The equations are all
quadratic and the linear term in each equation is
zero)
b)Determine the values of each variable to make each
equation true. 1)6, 2)8 3)7, 4)0, 5)3√−1 )
c) How many solutions does each equation have ? (two)
Explain your answer.(The square of any integer is
positive)
d) What can you say about each quadratic equation?(All
equations are of the forms ax2 + c=0 or ax2 =0)
E. Discussing new ACTIVITY: EXTRACT ME!!!
concepts and Direction : Apply the given steps to solve each quadratic
practicing new skills equation.
#2 Steps : a) Write the equation in the form ax2 = c
b) If a is not equal to make it equal to one by
dividing both sides of equation by the value of
a.
c) Extract the root to find the value of the variable
d) Check by substituting each root in the original
equation.
