Maya Angelou

Maya Angelou was an American memoirist, poet, and civil


rights activist. She published seven autobiographies, three
books of essays, and several books of poetry, and is credited
with a list of plays, movies, and television shows spanning
over 50 years. She received dozens of awards and more than
50 honorary degrees. She was a captivating public speaker
with a unique voice. Her speaking style was melodic and
soothing. Her expressive voice conveyed deep emotions and
strong convictions. She emphasized key points with clarity
and used humor to engage her audience. She was a master of
wordplay in her public speaking. She had a remarkable ability
to play with words, using metaphors, similes, and creative
language to add depth and richness to her messages These
qualities are visible in her famous poem “Still I rise” and
“How the caged bird sings”
