collaborate for safer,
cleaner content

he Kenya Film Classi-
fication Board (KFCB)
is working with So-
cial Media platform TikTok
to ensure that the content
posted on the platform is
decent and suitable for the
Kenyan viewers.
KFCB Acting Chief Exec-
utive Officer Joel Wamalwa
said that, as the state agency
mandated to regulate the
creation, broadcasting, dis-
tribution and exhibition of
audio-visual content in the
country, he is confident
that the discussion with
TikTok and other platforms,
together with other stake-
holders would bear fruits by
ensuring that the content
conforms to Kenya’s cul-
ture, moral values and na-
tional aspirations.
Speaking during a work-
shop between TikTok and
government agencies, Wa-
malwa said the workshop
is a timely engagement as
it comes following a series
of meetings with regards to
TikTok operations in Kenya
“It is very gratifying to
know that this workshop is
a continuation of our fruit-
ful engagement that also
includes training, and we
look forward to further en-
gagement in the future,”
Wamalwa said.
He emphasized that it is
of utmost importance that
minors are protected from
exposure to inappropriate

AND REGULATORY IMPACT STATEMENT (RIS) FOR THE DRAFT REGULATIONS
Pursuant to provisions of Section 42 (1) of the National Construction Authority Act No. 41 of 2011 (hereinafter referred
to as “NCA Act”), the Cabinet Secretary for the Ministry of Lands, Public Works, Housing and Urban Development, in
consultation with the Board of the National Construction Authority, has developed the Draft National Construction
Authority (Amendment) Regulations, 2023 (hereinafter referred to as ‘Amendment Regulations’).
As per Section 5(2)(d) of the NCA Act, the Authority is mandated to prescribe the qualifications or other attributes
required for registration as a contractor. The purpose of the Amendment Regulations is to repeal the Authority’s
