1. What is the relevance of ICT in your chosen course?

In recent years, information and communication technology (ICT) has grown

increasingly important in the profession of nursing. ICT is important in the Bachelor of
Science in Nursing (BSN) program because it may be utilized to improve nursing education
and training, improve patient care, and support nursing practice. ICT has the ability to
increase nursing practice efficiency and effectiveness while also improving patient care and
safety. Online learning, electronic health records (EHRs), simulation technology, telehealth,
and health information systems are some examples of how ICT is employed in the nursing
sector. Online learning platforms and other ICT tools are frequently used in nursing
education to offer course content and enhance student learning. Furthermore, as I indicated
in my earlier post, EHRs enable nurses to easily access patient information such as medical
history, allergies, and prescription lists from any device with an internet connection. This can
aid in the reduction of errors and the improvement of patient care. Nursing education may
also make use of simulation technology, such as virtual patients and mannequins, to give
students hands-on experience in a safe and controlled environment. Telehealth enables
nurses to conduct virtual consultations with patients, which is especially beneficial for
patients who are housebound or live in rural locations. Finally, health information systems,
such as clinical decision support systems, can give nurses with real-time patient data and
alarms, allowing them to spot possible difficulties and enhance patient outcomes.

2. Name at least 4 uses of ICT in our daily lives and explain.

Here are four examples of how ICT is used and how it might benefit us in our daily
lives. First, social media platforms like Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram enable users to
interact with friends and family, share information and ideas, and stay up to date on current
events. This was used for communication and is now a requirement in today's society.
People can use social media platforms to exchange information and ideas with a larger
audience. This is especially useful for those attempting to raise awareness about a specific
topic or cause. People can utilize social media for professional networking by connecting
with others in their sector and expanding their professional networks. Many businesses use
social media platforms as a marketing tool, allowing them to reach a wider audience and
promote their products or services.

Second, information and communication technology (ICT) is utilized in online banking

to allow clients to access their bank accounts, pay bills, transfer money, and complete other
financial operations from anywhere with an internet connection. This is particularly beneficial
for persons who are unable to visit a physical bank branch due to disability or mobility
concerns. Customers can use online banking platforms to access financial management
tools such as budgeting and savings calculators. Customers can benefit from this by better
understanding their money and making more educated financial decisions. Customers can
access their bank accounts through online banking from any location with an internet
connection, as long as they have a computer or mobile device and an internet connection.

Next, information and communication technology (ICT) is utilized in online shopping

to allow people to browse and purchase things from the comfort of their own homes. This is
especially useful for persons who reside in rural or isolated places, or who have mobility
limitations that make visiting actual stores difficult. Customers can peruse enormous product
catalogs on online buying sites at their leisure. Customers can find specific products by
using search functions or filters, and they can examine product descriptions, photos, and
reviews before making a purchase. Customers frequently have delivery and shipping
alternatives when they order online. Home delivery, pickup at a nearby store, or shipping to
a different area are all options. Online shopping platforms also often provide customer
service options to assist customers with their purchases. This can include live chat, email,
or phone support.

Then lastly, GPS (Global Positioning System) technology employs ICT to deliver
precise and up-to-date information on driving routes, traffic updates, and other data to assist
individuals in navigating their way to their destination. This is especially useful for persons
who are unfamiliar with a location or who are having problems traveling. GPS data is often
processed and analyzed to provide additional information to users. For example, GPS data
can be used to provide traffic updates, recommend driving routes, or provide other location-
based information. GPS technology relies on a complex network of ICT infrastructure,
including satellites, ground stations, and GPS receivers. This infrastructure must be
carefully designed and maintained to ensure accurate and reliable GPS data. ICT may
improve our daily life in a variety of ways by making communication, information access,
and daily tasks more convenient and efficient.

3. Give 5 positive impacts and 5 negative impacts of ICT in society.

Positive societal effects of ICT:

1. ICT has considerably increased communication between people, allowing them to

communicate with one another more readily and efficiently.
2. Access to information has improved: ICT has made it easier for people to obtain
information on a wide range of issues, from news and research to educational
resources.
3. Increased efficiency, by automating procedures and improving data management,
ICT has dramatically increased the efficiency of numerous industries, including
healthcare, finance, and logistics.
4. Improved education: Information and communication technology (ICT) has altered
the way education is provided, making it more accessible and engaging for
students.
5. Improved healthcare: ICT has substantially improved healthcare by allowing for
greater communication between healthcare providers and patients, increasing
diagnostic accuracy and speed, and enabling remote treatment and monitoring.

Negative societal effects of ICT:

1. Cyberbullying: Because ICT has made it easier for people to bully others online, the
consequences for mental health and well-being can be severe.
2. Addiction: Information and communication technology (ICT) can be addictive, and
excessive use can harm one's mental health, social relationships, and physical
health.
3. Privacy problems: Because personal information can be gathered, kept, and shared
without consent, ICT can generate major privacy concerns.
4. Job displacement: Information and communications technology (ICT) has the
potential for displacing jobs, particularly in businesses that rely largely on manual
labor or repetitive tasks.
5. Digital divide: Not everyone has equal access to information and communication
technology, which can worsen existing social and economic inequality.
