2. LITERATURE REVIEW

Keith Oliver first used the term "Supply Chain Management" in 1982.According to Aziz
Muysinaliyev and Sherzod Aktamov, Supply Chain Management has gained considerable
importance in improving firm performance and has become a subject of significant research
interest in recent years.

According to Lee and Corey, supply chain management encompasses the integration of
activities across a network of facilities, including procurement, transformation of raw
materials, and product delivery. Companies are striving for more effective business models to
meet customer needs and maintain competitiveness.

Christopher Martin highlights the strong linkage between supply chain partners and
customers facilitated by IT advancements. The introduction of mobile devices, RFID, and
GPS technology, as explained by David Simchi Levi, Philip Kaminsky, and Edith Simchi
Levi, ensures complete visibility in the movement of goods, enabling efficient logistics and
warehouse management.

In the modern supply chain management structure, vehicles are equipped with IoT devices for
location tracking and real-time alerts. Sensors within the vehicles monitor load, temperature,
battery performance, and send alerts to address any issues promptly, preventing system
damage.
Problem Statement

Amidst intensifying competition and industry demands, the supply chain and logistics sector
must accelerate its pace. The integration of mobility solutions in the supply chain industry
promises significant benefits for all stakeholders. Streamlining communication, it reduces
time and costs associated with transportation. This opportune moment calls for investments in
robust supply chain management systems to propel business growth and stay ahead of the
curve.

Objective of the study

• Evaluating the Impact of Mobility Solutions on Logistics and Supply Chain.

• Analysing the Role of Mobility Solutions in Transforming Logistics and Supply
Chain.
• Studying the impacts of mobility solutions of logistics in e-Commerce Market of
India.

3. BACKGROUND

3.1 Roles of Logistics in Supply Chain Management

Logistics plays a vital role in the supply chain by ensuring the efficient movement
of goods and materials. It encompasses various modes of transportation and
focuses on delivering the right products at the right time. Some key roles of
logistics in the supply chain include:-
Inventory Management, Order Processing, Warehouse Management,
Transportation Planning, Packaging and Material Handling.

3.2 Role of Mobility Solutions (IoT) in the Logistics Industry

IoT adoption is significantly transforming the logistics and transportation
industries, enabling companies to meet increasing standards for speed, accuracy,
and cost optimization. This research investigates how technology-driven solutions
empower businesses to ensure exceptional quality of service while optimizing
operational costs. The following seven applications show how IoT technology
may be strategically used for complete supply chain management.

(i) Inventory Tracking and Analytics:

IoT-powered solutions such as smart labels and RFID tags provide real-time
visibility, automation, and accurate inventory management.

(ii) Optimized Warehousing:

IoT sensors enable remote monitoring of storage conditions, security, and
equipment activity, enhancing warehouse management efficiency.
