CROWDY RESERVOIR - FISHING REGULATIONS

The reservoirs are covered by General Regulations with which anglers must familiarise themselves
before proceeding to fish.

1. SEASON – From 15 March to 12 October inclusive.

2. HOURS OF FISHING – From ONE HOUR BEFORE SUNRISE TO ONE HOUR AFTER
SUNSET. Anglers must leave the Trust’s property by 1¼ hours after sunset.

3. PERMITS – FREE FISHING. All anglers must possess a valid EA rod licence.

4. FISHING METHODS – All normal methods of rod and line fishing are permitted, ie fly, spinning,
float fishing and ledgering. Natural or artificial baits allowed. The use of cereal based Ground
Bait is PROHIBITED but loose feeding with hook bait is permitted. Fishing with more than one
rod and line is PROHIBITED. When fishing with sinking lines, flies must be retrieved at all times.

5. BAG LIMIT – An anglers may kill no more than FOUR trout over 7” in any one day. Trout under
this size must be returned. Barbless hooks preferred.

6. WADING – Trouser waders are not permitted. WADING CAN BE DANGEROUS.

7. CAR PARKING – Cars must be parked in the car park provided.

8. PROHIBITED FISHING AREAS – Fishing is not permitted from the DAM, in the STILLING
BASINS or beyond the signs forbidding access.

9. LITTER – To prevent danger to wildlife, nylon waste and litter MUST NOT BE DISCARDED.

10. LEAD WEIGHTS – The use of lead weights, weighing less than 1oz (other than dust shot) are
prohibited.

11. DOGS – (except guide dogs) are not permitted to accompany anglers.

12. CONTRAVENTION OF REGULATIONS – Any person contravening any regulation shall


FORFEIT OF HIS/HER PERMIT AND CATCH AND SHALL BE REQUIRED TO LEAVE THE
TRUST’S PROPERTY IMMEDIATELY. Further action, including a PROSECUTION and/or BAN,
may follow.

13. Anglers fishing at the reservoirs do so at their own risk and on the understanding that the Trust
does not accept liability for loss, damage, or injury to persons or property, whilst on the Trust’s
land or water.

14. CLOSURE OF FISHERY – The Trust reserves the right to change any regulation and to close
part or all of the fishery at any time without notice.

15. VOLUNTARY MEASURES – Anglers are requested to use barbless hooks.

ANGLERS MUST TAKE CARE TO AVOID HOOKING OTHER PERSONS WHEN BACKCASTING.
