Unit 2 Story: Guidelines for parents and guardians

Leo: Ouch! My head!

Mike: Don’t worry. I can help.

Polly: Ouch! My feet!

Mike: Don’t worry. I can help.

Gina: Oh! ... My leg!

Mike: Don’t worry. I can help.

Mike: Help!
Leo, Gina and Polly: Oh no!

Mike: Ouch! Oh! My body!

Leo, Gina and Polly: Don’t worry! ... We can help!

Cut out the five pictures on worksheet part 1. Point to the characters. Your child
says the names. Ask what is happening in the story (the child tries to remember
and explain in his/her own language). Encourage him/her to say which part of the
body each animal has hurt (Leo – head, Polly – feet, Gina – leg, Mike – body). Read
the story script and help the child put the pictures in the correct order. Check with
Pupil’s Book pages 20 and 21.
Give the child glue and the second part of the worksheet. He/She sticks the
pictures down in order into the blank frames. When he/she has finished, talk about
what is happening in the story again (Leo hurts his head and Mike helps him. Polly
hurts her feet and Mike helps her. Gina hurts her leg and Mike helps again. Then
Mike falls down and hurts himself – all the other animals help him.). Practise the
repeated phrases from the story: Don’t worry. and I can help. The child can then
colour the pictures.
