OXYGEN SYSTEM

 Oxygen systems are essential in aircraft that

operate at high altitudes
OXYGEN SYSTEM
 Current FAR’s require that any aircraft operating
above 25000 ft must have Oxygen immediately
available to Passengers and Crew
 The King Air 200 & B200 comply with this
requirement

 First aid oxygen outlet
OXYGEN SYSTEM
 When oxygen flows to the passenger supply
line a pressure sensitive switch closes a circuit
to illuminate the “PASS OXY ON” annunciator
 This will also cause the cabin lights to
illuminate full bright regardless of the switch
position

 NOTE
 Crew oxygen is a demand supply
 Passenger oxygen is a continuous supply

Cockpit Oxygen systems come in 3 types :

 Continuous flow/Diluter systems

 Diluter/Demand systems

 Pressure demand systems

OXYGEN SYSTEM
 The King Air 200 is equipped
with Diluter/Demand crew
masks
 The system mixes Oxygen
with a predetermined levels
of air from the cockpit
 At sea level dilution would be
100% cockpit air
 As the cabin altitude
increases so does the % of
oxygen increase in the mask
OXYGEN SYSTEM
 Passenger oxygen masks
OXYGEN SYSTEM
 During the pre-flight it is important to make
sure that there is sufficient oxygen to sustain
the crew and passengers for an
unpressurised descent
 Full system pressure is 1850 (+/-50) psi
 This is sufficient to supply the crew and
passengers with oxygen for a limited period

bottle
Example
 Bottle pressure of
1500 psi @ 10°C
 80% usable capacity
OXYGEN SYSTEM
 With 2 crew & 6 pax (crew on 100% must be doubled)
 i.e. plan for 10 people

 73 minutes of oxygen
 @ 80%
 66 minutes of oxygen
