2. What is the National Drug Situation (Philippines) for the past six years?
The prevalence of illegal drugs in the Philippines has not been accurately determined.
However, estimates by the UNODC showed the annual prevalence for marijuana is
3.5 percent, amphetamine-type stimulants 2.8 percent, and ecstasy .01 percent of the
population above 15 years of age. According to the International Narcotics Control
Strategy Report 2003, it is estimated that there are 1.8 million drug users in the
Philippines, which is equivalent to 2.2 percent of the population. The drug problem in
the Philippines has primarily been viewed as an issue of law enforcement and
criminality, and the government has focused on implementing a policy of
criminalization and punishment. The escalation of human rights violations has caught
the attention of groups in the Philippines as well as the international community.

The number of drug users in the Philippines has declined by more than 50 percent
from 4 million in 2016 to 1.67 million in 2019, three years after President Rodrigo
Duterte launched a crackdown on drug use, a survey has shown. The Dangerous
Drugs Board (DDB) of the Philippines released on Oct. 14 the survey on the patterns
and trends of drug abuse results conducted from December 2019 to February 2020. In
a televised address to the nation late Monday night, Duterte cited the survey that
around 1.67 million or two out of 100 Filipinos aged 10 to 69 are using illegal drugs.

6. In your observation for the past 6 years within your community in terms of what is
the level of drugs use in your area?
In the course of attaining sustainable living, there are factors that immensely
undermines the aim of everyone to combat deprivation of life. These includes
geographic - that make it challenging to patrol and defend the nation from
methamphetamine and marijuana growers; economic, such as poverty; social - like the
phenomenon of the overseas contract worker; media exposure and the deteriorating
moral fabric of society; and political - for an instance the policies, drug laws, and
enforcement.
Elicited from this, it only proved that there is a stagnant progress happening in terms
of the level of drugs use in our area.
