Laguna

Laguna is a province of
CaLaBaRZon or Region 4-A
Philippines.
A. Geography
Laguna is located in Southern
Tagalog Region, together with its
neighboring provinces: Rizal,
Quezon, Batangas, and Cavite. It
has an area of 1,917.85 km2.
B. People
Laguna has a total population of 3,382,193 and is the 3rd largest
population out if 81 provinces in the Philippines.
C. Economy
One of the Philippines' richest provinces is Laguna, due to its
accessibility to Metro Manila. However, the province's income growth
is so uneven, with the regional capital acting as a catchment for Metro
Manila's industrialization and urbanization spillover. However, the
eastern region is still primarily a farming region.
The major products of Laguna are rice, coconut, other fruits and
vegetables, vehicles, electronics, other manufactured items

Despite being in a provincial region, Laguna still uses Tagalog dialect for
everyday communication.
E. Culture
1. Practices
a. Greetings
Common greetings such as, “Kumusta ka?”,”Magandang Umaga”,
“Magandang Hapon”, and “Magandang Gabi”.
b. Ways of showing respect to elders, strangers.
Doing “mano” or simply putting their hand into your forehead and
saying “po” and “opo” in between every sentence when talking are the
ways of showing respect to elders and strangers.
c. Courtship, marriage, and other important events
The Galahan wedding tradition is
practiced. For newlywed couples,
dancing in front of the family
members is a part of the wedding
ritual.

Festivals and Important events in Laguna


The annual Anilag Festival, also referred to as the "Mother of Harvest
Festivals," lasts for a whole week in March in Sta, the capital of Laguna.

The festival is full of activities
like street dance
competitions, float contests,
and various music
competitions.
Coconut Festival, or the
"Coco Fest", is a weeklong
celebration held annually in
early January.
The climax of the occasion,
the Mardi gras, is typically
attended by students and
elite groups that dress attractively in clothing made from coconut tree
parts and dance to local indigenous music.
The Pinya Festival is held in
the Laguna municipality of
Calauan on May 15th each
year.
The Trade Fair Show
features regional products,
the most of which are
related to pineapples,
including various delicacies
and pinya fabric-textile formed from pineapple leaves. Various
barangays in the city take part in a parade where stunning and
luxurious floats are displayed. Additionally, there is a contest for street
dancers, who dress in vibrant costumes.
Every year, the Tsinelas Festival
is observed during the final
week of April.
Because of the continuous
expansion and development of
the footwear industry, Gat
Tayaw, Liliw, Laguna is often
known to as the "Footwear
Capital of Laguna."
d. Work Ethics
Respectful- The people of Laguna are well known for their cultural
respect. They generally show respect to the elderly members of their
families as well as to their coworkers, managers, and clients in the
workplace. Virtual helpers from the Philippines are no different.

the candidate from Laguna, Leren Mae
Bautista.
The costume perfectly represents her as
a "woman with a golden heart."

Historical places
In the heart of Sta. Rosa there
is a historical museum called
Gusaling Museo. The historic
town hall now displays Sta.
Rosa's lengthy history
of Sta. Rosa and the
importance of it to Laguna as a
whole. It exhibits furniture and
antiquities from the pre-Spanish era until World War II, as well as
memories from important local figures.
The deep interior Emilio
Jacinto Shrine symbolizes the
location of where the
revolutionary organization
Katipunan's brain was
interred.

The primary feature in Biñan is


the Jose Rizal Monument
Plaza. In the beginning of the
national hero's life, Biñan
played a crucial role. Jose Rizal
received his initial formal
schooling there.

Mabitac Church 100 steps is


the common name for Nuestra
Senora de Candelaria Church.
Standing atop Kalbaryo hill,
one may reach the church by
climbing the famous
stairwell—127 steps, to be
exact—via the fabled 100-step
staircase.
The Plaza, which is across from
Calamba's municipal building,
is home to the highest Jose
Rizal statue in the entire
world.

The UPLB-College of Forestry is


home to the Museum of
Natural History. The museum
provides as the information,
research, and documentation
center for UPLB. More than
200,000 preserved biological
and zoological specimens from
across the nation are kept
here.
One of Laguna's most popular
tourist attractions is Rizal
Shrine. It is a portrayal of
Calamba, the city where the
nation's national hero was
born. A complete copy of
Rizal's home, complete with
rooms and furniture, a gallery,
and a statue of the young
Rizal, make up the shrine.
