Laguna
Laguna is a province of
CaLaBaRZon or Region 4-A
Philippines.
A. Geography
Laguna is located in Southern
Tagalog Region, together with its
neighboring provinces: Rizal,
Quezon, Batangas, and Cavite. It
has an area of 1,917.85 km2.
B. People
Laguna has a total population of 3,382,193 and is the 3rd largest
population out if 81 provinces in the Philippines.
C. Economy
One of the Philippines' richest provinces is Laguna, due to its
accessibility to Metro Manila. However, the province's income growth
is so uneven, with the regional capital acting as a catchment for Metro
Manila's industrialization and urbanization spillover. However, the
eastern region is still primarily a farming region.
The major products of Laguna are rice, coconut, other fruits and
vegetables, vehicles, electronics, other manufactured items

Despite being in a provincial region, Laguna still uses Tagalog dialect for
everyday communication.
E. Culture
1. Practices
a. Greetings
Common greetings such as, “Kumusta ka?”,”Magandang Umaga”,
“Magandang Hapon”, and “Magandang Gabi”.
b. Ways of showing respect to elders, strangers.
Doing “mano” or simply putting their hand into your forehead and
saying “po” and “opo” in between every sentence when talking are the
ways of showing respect to elders and strangers.
c. Courtship, marriage, and other important events
The Galahan wedding tradition is
practiced. For newlywed couples,
dancing in front of the family
members is a part of the wedding
ritual.
Historical places
In the heart of Sta. Rosa there
is a historical museum called
Gusaling Museo. The historic
town hall now displays Sta.
Rosa's lengthy history
of Sta. Rosa and the
importance of it to Laguna as a
whole. It exhibits furniture and
antiquities from the pre-Spanish era until World War II, as well as
memories from important local figures.
