In response to the Invitation to submit the RFP (Request for Proposal) for Survey works for purpose of Detail
Design and construction drawings of the Kali Gandaki Gorge Hydropower Project situated at Mustang
and Myagdi districts of in Nepal. ; we are pleased to submit the proposal.
This proposal is being submitted by GORKHA HYDRO & ENGINEERING PVT. LTD, Narephat, Jadibutti.
2.0 Objective
As a part of exploratory Program for Kaligandaki Gorge Hydro-Electric Project, Nepal, Hydro
Solution had carried out detailed topographical survey of the project area in 2016. Since then lots of
land features have been changed in the form of landslides, location of barrage and adits etc. This
has necessitated additional and also re-doing of the survey. M/s Kaligandaki Gorge Hydropower Pvt.
Ltd (KGHPL) is recommended to conduct conformity topographical survey of the project area and
detailed survey of project components. Hence, it is proposed to carry out fresh detailed survey in
relocated sites. In pursuance of this, following survey works are proposed.
i. Checking of the coordinates and level of the bench marks / Control network established on the
ground.
ii. Carrying the levels from these bench marks and conduct detailed surveys between assigned levels
covering from Headwork to Power House complex.
iii. The detailed topographical survey shall cover all ground features i.e. nallah, landslides, large boulders
greater than 1m size, road path, foot bridges, river bank protection works, foot track, transmission lines,
towers, villages houses, etc
iv. Survey based Measurements and preparation of the L-sections and cross-sections across
Kaligandaki River in Diversion and Tail race sites.
v. Detailed survey of Project road and Beni-Jomsom Highway under reservoir submergence.
Scope of work includes “Topographical Survey of the area as marked in the attached layout as part
of TOR OF Kaligandaki Hydro Electric Project and any other/ additional area at the project site as
informed by KGHPL (the service recipient). While conducting the assigned survey, M/s……….. shall
carryout all below mentioned activities as under:
i. Topographical survey of the project area from Headworks to Power house in scale of 1:1000 with
contour interval of 5.0m covering the length of tunnel and 200 m on hill side and 500m on right side
of the center line including Kaligandaki river and Beni-Jomsom Road of tunnel/adits showing all
ground features i.e. nallah, landslides, large boulders, road path, foot bridges, river bank protection
works, foot track, transmission lines, towers, villages houses, etc. (Refer attached drawing no 1500-
CD-5001)
ii. Detailed survey at scale of 1:200 @1m contour at Headworks, Adit-1 junction to portal, Surge Shaft,
Adit-2, Adit-3, Adit-4 including all portals, Pressure Shaft, Power House, Switchyard, Tail Race and
acess road(refer attached drawing no 1500-CD-5002, 5003, 5004) including approach, portal
location, facility areas and dumping area etc.
iv. River Cross Section at Power House & Tail Race @50m c/c (500m upstream of power House and
1500m downstream of power house) (Bathymetric Survey) (Refer attached drawing no 1500-CD-
5004).
v. Cross Sections @ 10m c/c along Beni – Jomsom Road (Highway) under KGG reservoir
submergence (Refer attached drawing no 1500-CD-5004).
vi. Detailed topographical grid survey 1 in 500 scale along Beni-Jomsom Highway under reservoir
submergence showing details of existing culverts, protection works, sliding zone and rock areas etc.
vii. Detailed topographical grid survey 1 in 500 scale along proposed road alignment to Adit 1 from
proposed powerhouse bridge location near Dana substation suspension bridge showing details of
existing road paths/ tracks and sliding zone areas etc.
viii. Demarcation of forest & private land, however the necessary assistance to get the desired details
from the concerned department shall be provided by the service recipient.
ix. Survey at bridge location near power house including river sections 100m upstream and 100m
downstream @ 25m c/c of bridge alignment for HEC RAS study
x. Identification and marking of Muck dumping area near to the project components.
xi. Topographical survey of Aggregate Query site near Tatopani and Pokhre Bagar area as mentioned
in Feasibility study report.
4.0 METHODOLOGY
The works would be executed by deploying core numbers of survey team with focus on following
works:
i. Control network confirmation by carrying the levels of existing points / Benchmarks and validation of
the established benchmarks in the project area
ii. Confirmatory Topographic survey of Kaligandaki Headwork’s to powerhouse and tailrace area as
marked on the Layout Plan (attached)
iii. Detailed Survey @1m interval contour at Headworks, Adit-1 and Power House area (Plan attached)
iv. River Cross Sections at Headworks @ 50m c/c (1000m upstream & 500m downstream) including
right bank (Bathymetric Survey)
v. River Cross Section at Power House & Tail Race @100m c/c (500m upstream of power House and
1000m downstream of power house) (Bathymetric Survey).
vi. Detailed Survey @1m interval contour for project roads and Beni-Jomsom Highway under reservoir
submergence including sections at 10 m c/c for highway.
vii. Demarcation of forest & private land, however the necessary assistance to get the desired details
from the concerned department shall be provided by KGHPL
iv. Marking & Fixing of the cemented concrete pillar for control points/ bench marks.
v. The consultant shall depute its team comprising 2-3 nos of experienced and well trained surveyors
along with equipments at service recipient site for carrying out the assigned scope of work. The team
along with equipment shall be deployed/ mobilized within 3 days from the date of issue of this work
order.
vi. It shall be ensured that the field activates of the assigned scope of work and the team shall take
permission from the site In-charge.
vii. Service provider’s team shall be deputed at site shall work in coordination with the Site In-charge of
the Service Recipient.
5.2 Triangulation
There must be triangulation points in between the Headworks & power house area. These points
are to be reconfirmed for control network confirmation based on established points by the UTM Grid
Co-ordinate System.
5.5 Leveling
A leveling survey is to be conducted from Bench mark established at Kaligandaki Gorge HEP. The
closing error will be limited within the accuracy of precise leveling survey. Precise surveys with the
above objectives would be conducted deploying Digital Total Stations of defined precision and /or
The survey agency would generate soft copies and hard copies of the surveyed area as per
indicated scope. It is emphasized that products shall have to be validated by Survey Agency itself
prior to submission and must ensure the fidelity as regards to reflection of intrinsic properties of the
topography.
The submittals would consist of following documents:
i. Data reduction and preparation of maps will be carried out using Softwel programe (or other
equivalent software) and the maps will be available on electronic file for design and quantity
estimate purposes.
ii. After validation, the Survey Agency would describe the precision level (for coordinates as well as Z
levels) and generate a key plan of Bench Marks in the area between Headwork’s & Power House
Complex.
iv. Details of the software used for data manipulation and product generation.
