After first issue in 1998, BRCGS Food had changes with new versions in compliance
with legislations, food safety, quality, integrity and culture and now BRCGS Food
Ver.9 Draft has been opened for public comment.
All certificates issued against audits carried out prior to this date will be against Issue 8 and be valid for the
period specified on the certificate.

• New requirements in section 5.3 Allergens about pet food and animal feed manufacturers;
• Clarification of 7.4.3 about washing work clothes
• New requirements and clarification of Section 8 – production risk zones (high risk, high care and ambient
high care)
• Clarifications about section 9 for traded goods
• E.g. If a company requests to be audited against section 9 and have more than one type of traded goods,
exclusion cannot be done for some of them as partly auditing of traded goods
• NCs related to section 9 will be included in calculation of final BRCGS Food Certificate grade
• If company has traded goods and does not want to be audited against section 9, this will be excluded in
the report
• It is expected that new voluntary modules will be developed and become available for use throughout the
life of Issue 9
