(indirect object – receive the action of the verb - it is usually the ‘person’)
a) Importance = person
Example: He gave Mary a book.

NOTE: When the ‘thing’ is a pronoun, there is only one form:

Example: They sent the letter. - The letter was sent.
- They arrive late (Cannot be made passive)
