Introductory Message
Welcome to TLE10 – ICT (Technical Drafting)!

The Learning Activity Sheet is a product of the collaborative efforts of the

Schools Division of Antique and DepEd Regional Office VI - Western Visayas through
the Curriculum and Learning Management Division (CLMD). This is developed to
guide the learning facilitators (teachers, parents and responsible adults) in helping the
learners meet the standards set by the K to 12 Basic Education Curriculum.

The Learning Activity Sheet is self-directed instructional materials aimed to

guide the learners in accomplishing activities at their own pace and time using the
contextualized resources in the community. This will also assist the learners in
acquiring the lifelong learning skills, knowledge and attitudes for productivity and
employment.

For learning facilitator:

The TLE 10 – ICT (Technical Drafting) Activity Sheet will help you facilitate
the leaching-learning activities specified in each Most Essential Learning Competency
(MELC) with minimal or no face-to-face encounter between you and learner. This will
be made available to the learners with the references/links to ease the independent
learning.

For the learner:

The TLE 10 – ICT (Technical Drafting) Activity Sheet is developed to help

you continue learning even if you are not in school. This learning material provides
you with meaningful and engaging activities for independent learning. Being an active
learner, carefully read and understand the instructions then perform the activities and
answer the assessments. This will be returned to your facilitator on the agreed
schedule.

Draft Water Distribution System

I. Learning Competency with Code

LO1. Draft water distribution system
(TLE_ICTTD9-12SC-IVa-1)

1.1 Draft hot and cold-water distribution systems according to

Plumbing and Water Codes.
1.2 Layout electronic and communication devices according to
electrical drafting requirements.

II. Background Information for Learners

This module is specifically designed to hone your knowledge with the concept of
sanitary disposal of waste and the principle of introducing clean water into the residential
unit from the source using AutoCAD system. With AutoCAD, you can easily design and
document Pipe Systems for both pressure and gravity applications. We will cover the
fundamentals on how piping works in AutoCAD.

In this module, you will explore what you need to know about creating a new system
definition for your piping system, defining the fittings that will be used in the layouts, how
pipe systems are displayed, and how the routing tools work when you are laying out your
piping system. Routing tools incorporated into the Pipe Add command support sloped
piping and true male x female connections. We will go through the best practices on how
to lay out both pressure and gravity piping systems and the differences between them
with the help of AutoCAD applications.

After going through this lesson, you are expected to:

• Draft hot and cold water distribution systems according to Plumbing and
Water Codes; and
• Indicate signs and symbols according to sanitary and plumbing
requirements.

Drafting Water Distribution Systems

This lesson is designed to familiarize you on how to layout the proper distribution
of water system (hot and cold water) using AutoCAD. Signs and symbols are provided in
this module for you to use which are based on the standard Water Code of the Philippines.
Hot and cold water is supplied to the buildings by a series of pipes connected from the
source under pressure to the building fixtures thru a water line distribution system.

Below are some of the common pipe fittings symbols used in AutoCAD that are
already created as blocks to be used or inserted in most of the floor plans.

Isometric Drawing in AutoCAD

Isometric drawings can be used to provide a three-dimensional representation of

a plumbing layout, in order to effectively visualize the layout of draft plan. It is sometimes
called a plumbing riser diagram. It’s not a 3D drawing, but simply a change in your drawing
orientation. You can do it by using snap, then change its style to isometric.

Command: SNAP

Specify snap spacing or [ON/OFF/Aspect/Style/Type] <10.0000>: S

Enter snap grid style [Standard/Isometric] <S>: I
Specify vertical spacing <10.0000>:

You can change your plane by typing ISOPLANE [enter] then select left, top, right.

In newer AutoCAD version, we have ISODRAFT option. If you use AutoCAD 2015, you
can access the option in drafting settings, AutoCAD status bar.

This will help you to quickly switch to isometric

drafting mode, the icons really help!

IV. Activity Proper

Suggested Activity 1

AutoCAD Blocks for Drafting Sanitary and Plumbing Layout

Directions: Create a complete AutoCAD Blocks for all the pipe fittings and symbols
based from what you have learned from the previous lessons. It should be saved on a
separate folder named “Plumbing Fixtures” to be added to the Design Center of your
AutoCAD Libraries.

Common Piping Symbols in CAD Drawings

6
Suggested Activity 2: Simple Water Distribution Layout

Direction: After having finished all the AutoCAD blocks for pipe fittings, practice
creating a Simple Water Distribution Layout as shown in the drawing.

7
Suggested Activity 3. Drafting Water Distribution System

Direction: Using the floor plan below or using the same floor plan from previous
lessons, draft a Water Distribution System as shown below.

8
Performance Rubric

Home-based Project

After you have written down your assessment and improvement on water distribution
system (WDS) of your own house, please draft your plan of WDS. You can do it using
CAD or through manual drafting. Please use a title block.

9
Assessment

Directions: Enumerate/Cite examples for each type of pipes. Write your answers in another sheet of
paper.

A. Cast Iron (Give 2 examples)

B. Galvanized Steel Pipe (2 examples)
C. Copper Pipe (3 examples)
D. Plastic Pipe (3 examples)

V. Reflection. Please use separate sheet of paper.

This section provides you as learners the opportunity to write the lessons you have
learned after accomplishing your exercise/activities. This serves as a simple learning
journal for you to have the opportunity to express your thoughts and revisit your learning
journey and realize the importance of resourcefulness and creativity. Be guided of the
following questions.

a. What insights have you gained from your activity this week?
_______________________________________________________________
_______________________________________________________________

b. What significant values have you developed while doing your activities?
