What is StoreOnce?
HPE StoreOnce primer
What is StoreOnce?
–StoreOnce is a disk based data protection system
–Its purpose is aimed at protecting primary data from the likes of 3PAR or other
arrays
–It utilizes VTL (Virtual Tape Library) emulation, NAS (network attached storage)
or StoreOnce Catalyst to ingest the data
–It also utilizes deduplication to ensure efficient and cost-effective use of storage

RMC
Direct RMC Backups from 3PAR / Nimble to StoreOnce Next Gen
Reduces Cost & Complexity
RMC¹
3PAR
• Data moved directly from 3PAR / Nimble to StoreOnce next generation without going through the RMC VM
• No longer requires VMDirectPathIO to be configured
• No longer requires a dedicated HBA for the RMC VM
• RMC VM – only a management plane for orchestrating copies as per set schedule
• Simpler architecture compared to traditional backup technologies
¹RMC is available as standard with every 3PAR & Nimble system as part of the array all-inclusive license
²for VMware environments compared to traditional backup environments
