POLITICS IN GENERAL
– Politics in General: The word
“politics” comes from the Greek
word “polis” which means “city-
state.” In the ancient world, city-
states are small countries regarded
as centers of culture and
civilization where people interact
under a unified government.

–The word comes from the
same Greek word from
which the title of Aristotle's
book Politics (Politika) also
derives; politika means

1. Politics always involves the
making of collective
decisions for group of people.

According to Aristotle, the Father
of Political Science, this collective
life necessitates a political
mechanism of rules, regulations,
and leadership. An organized
society needs some system to
make and enforce rules for orderly
behavior in society.

– Politics is a term
encompassing the totality of
human activities transpiring
within the city-state. Politics
denotes a social activity.
Aristotle said, “Man is by
nature a political animal”.

Government is a group of people who
rule or run the administration of a
country. It may be said that a government
is the body of representatives that governs
and controls the state at a given time.
Government is the medium through
which the power of the state is employed.
The government may be labelled as good
or bad according to their ways of working
for the good of the people.

Governance is the act of governing
or ruling. It is the set of rules and
laws framed by the government that
are to be implemented through the
representatives of the state. Simply
put, governance is what governments
do. The main purpose of governance
is to assure good results following a
set pattern of rules.

1.Politics is the art and science of governance.
It is the art and science of activities related
to governing nations, groups, or
organizations and impacts everyone.
2.Politics shapes governance when the ideal
becomes a focused law of governance to
bind the people. It is the application of
human ideals into a lived reality, which is
complicated.

3. Being aware of politics and
understanding the role of politics in

are in the governance of all others.

4. Politics is an arena of power. Politics is
the arena in which power can be won or

impulses and indifference. Politicians can
advance themselves by understanding and
navigating relations between people and
their actions influence the distribution of
social goods among people.
