TOPIC: NOT BEING SUCCESSFUL IN THE EXAMS

Hi everyone, my name is HN and my fr is PN. Today, we will practice a conversation

about the fear of not being successful in the exam. I will act as the older sister in the
conversation and HN will act as my younger sister. OK. Listen to us, pls!
CHỊ: Good morning, how are you doing?
EM: I’m very well. And you, how are you doing?
CHỊ: I’m good…, umm.... you look nervous, Ngọc. What happened to you?
EM: Yes, I'm pretty scared.
CHỊ: What are you afraid of?
EM: I’m really nervous. I have an exam tomorrow. I can’t stop thinking about it.
CHỊ: oh, did you study for the test tomorrow?
EM: Yes, of course. But it is terrifying for me. Not being successful in the exam
makes me nervous. I really hate low scores.
CHỊ: Don't worry. Everything's going to be all right.
You know, a lot of students are like that. It’s one of their most common fears. But I
think if you just study hard, that won't happen.
EM: I hope so. Hmmm. And you, when you were a student, were you afraid of not
being successful in the exam?
CHỊ: Of course. But, I think I'm not scared as much as you
EM: What’s your greatest fear?
CHỊ: Well. I’m scared of heights. I feel dizzy when I am in a high position and look
down. It makes me fast heart rate.
EM: Really? Oh no, I’m so sorry I didn’t know about that. I should have known that
earlier.
CHỊ: I'm okay. Don't worry.
EM: Well. As far as I know, that fear is called acrophobia.
Chị: That’s right. And about 2-5% of the population has a fear of heights, the rate is
twice as high in women than in men.
EM: Oh wow. That interesting. But I’m sorry. I'll be late for work if I don't go now.
See you again in the evening. Goodbye
CHỊ: That's alright. See you later! Goodbye.
