Lesson Policies and Guidelines 2023-2024

Teaching Year: SEPT 11, 2023, to May 10, 2024

FEES: Option plan Due by end of September and let me know which way you choose to pay:
Monthly, 2 Payments or Full Year Payment by Sept 15

1. Please use postdated cheques dated for the 1st or 15th of each month. Sept to April
there should be 8 cheques written for the whole year. CHEQUES are PAYABLE TO:

3. Deposits automatically

If you choose Bi Yearly option: 2 Cheques or E Transfer due Sept 15, 2023, and Jan 15, 2024.

MATERIAL FEES 2024: Included in your total Yearly Fees. These are for photocopies and online
or book music purchases for both VOCAL and PIANO STUDENTS. There may be additional fees
as your child progresses an INVOICE will be emailed for the amount owed. (This material fee
is included in the TOTAL lesson fee amount)

Fees and lesson times are emailed by end of AUGUST

MISSED LESSONS:
Please note NO REFUND for missed lessons. However, if you know in advance,
please call me so I can try to reschedule with an alternate lesson time. At times I may need to
cancel a lesson and I will provide a make-up lesson time. Please note is your responsibility to
contact me to schedule a make-up lesson which are available Most SUNDAY Afternoons

ONLINE LESSONS are available at usual time if your child is not feeling well.
PERFORMANCE OPPORTUNITIES:

Music Festival is in Indian Head April 2 to April 6, 2023) and offers Piano and Singing
performance and adjudication, fees TBD. We need volunteers to run this program and
Parents are expected to take roles to run Festival.

RECITALS provide a good experience to perform and practice pieces in front of

others. There are 4 recitals this year. A Survey link will be sent with possible dates and
times choose the best for you and your family.

2. CHRISTMAS RECITAL (TBD)
3. PRE-MUSIC FESTIVAL (EARLY MARCH)
4. YEAR END RECITAL (TBD)

MUSIC EXAMINATIONS: Royal Conservatory are available. (IN REGINA and ONLINE)

Piano, Singing and Theory exams take place in December, January, April, and May, June
and August of each year. Grade 6 exams with the THEORY and higher count as credits in High
School. I encourage each student to try one, it sets a high standard and gives you a goal to
complete. Forms are available from me as well check www.rcmexaminations.org for
information.

PRACTICE is an important part of increasing your ability to play the piano or sing well. Please
try to meet the following recommendations to produce positive steady growth.

Practice Guidelines: (Not School Grade, Piano or Singing Level) Highlighted for you
1st Year to Level 1: 15 to 20 minutes per day
Junior students (Level 2 to Level 3): 20-30 minutes per day
Intermediate students (Level 4 - Level 6): 30-60 minutes per day
Senior students (Level 7-Level 9): 50-90 minutes per day

EQUIPMENT: PLEASE BRING TO EVERY LESSON

1. Music books (Will be Billed when material fee has been spent: $50.00 -
$150.00 per year)
2. 1 inch 3 ring Binder (VOCAL and PIANO STUDENTS)
3. Theory book (EACH STUDENT to do Weekly ASSIGNMENTS)
4. AT HOME NEED A Metronome (Piano and Vocal Students) can download and
app.
