Beginning V2 Rollout and Future

Plans

Fenix A320: Anniversary

Fenix A320: The End of a Beta

Fenix A320: Destination Beta

Hello all, Feature Review & Dev Update -

It’s been quite a week. I was entirely prepared to write an announcement stating we were going to 08DEC2021
delay the roll out of V2 Block 1. Late Monday, Early Tuesday, we encountered the mother of all
bugs. A little blood sucker that was rooted deeply and firmly within the aircraft’s core code, Fenix A320 – Dev Update
sapping performance. This manifested in the system code being slower than expected, causing all
08OCT21
sorts of issues, but namely stuttery displays, misbehaving flight controls, and the FD having a mind
of its own after a couple of turnarounds, depending on how strong the user’s CPU was.
Fenix A320 – Dev Update
Thankfully, after a herculean e!ort over 3 days from some of our testers, and the team, late last
17SEP21
night, we found it. Naturally, it took 72 hours to find, and 20 minutes to fix. A bonus side e!ect?
We’ve managed to nab a couple of extra FPS for you as a result. So performance is as good as it’s
ever been. I’m happy to say we will roll out V2 Block 1 for you at 1600 BST (that’s just under an Feature Review:
hour from now..). One thing I will say now is that the flight dynamics are di!erent. As is flare. Indicating/Recording
Before sending in reports about flare being too floaty, too slammy, etc etc - please take some time
to get accustomed to the new behaviour. Experiment with it. See what it’s like. It’s certainly
di!erent, but we feel much improved. Finally, we’re noting that the sim’s updrafts and downdrafts Fenix A320 – Dev Update
as a result of thermals are currently a little wild. And by a little, I mean a lot. During testing with 27AUG21
thermal debug open, we were seeing 0fpm to 1800fpm, back to 0, then to 600-700fpm on a clear
day with no clouds. It is quite inconsistent and we’re not huge fans, so we recommend turning
Fenix A320 – Dev Update
your turbulence settings down, as it gives a much better impression of the aircraft.
06AUG21
This is probably a fairly large changelog - so big that it wouldn’t fit on Discord, so we have opted to
put it here instead. I have tried to reduce the density of it by truncating as much of it as possible,
Feature Review: HYD/FUEL
so that it is relatively easy to read, but this also means that there are sometimes hundreds of
changes that are ultimately wrapped into one little line on the changelog. Please also bear in mind
that a portion of the avionics and system overhauls are being pushed with Block 2, in September, Feature Review: MCDU/FMGS
so if you don’t see something you were hoping for (e.g HYD overhaul or brake temperature
simulation overhaul), that will probably come later. In total for Block 1, however, you’re looking at a

little over a thousand di!erent changes across the spectrum.
A320
With that in mind, let’s jump into it.

Now, whilst all of this is very exciting, there is a very important caveat that should be noted. You
are about to go from a mature release that has been proven over 9 months by thousands of users,
to a build run earlier today, and tested by a couple dozen testers. Whilst we've worked hard to
ensure there are no super egregious issues that'll ruin the fun, we do anticipate a fair few bumps
and lumps in this version as we go from an in-house testing team, to the wild west of the entire
customer base. We've also held-o! addressing a number of minor issues that, quite frankly,
weren't worth delaying the entire release for another couple weeks over. If you encounter
anything that needs some polish, worry not, we will be continuing refinement work on pretty much
every area of the aircraft. With that, we really hope you enjoy this first part of a nearly year-long
e!ort to deliver the A320 simulation we've always wanted.
