The Technical Art Team is a crucial part of our prestigious EA SPORTS TM FC


studio's efforts to push the limits of visual appeal and player experiences. We
make investments in cutting-edge technologies, teamwork tools, and efficient
production techniques. Our strategy blends technical knowledge, creative thinking,
and artistic creativity. Every day, we encourage team members to share their
special insights and in-depth knowledge in order to build a diverse and inclusive

Your responsibilities

Involved in every aspect of the art team, the Associate Technical Artist acts as a
crucial bridge between designers and engineers. Alongside artists, project
managers, software engineers, and the Technical Art team, they work closely
together. Their key duties include developing tools, enhancing pipelines,
integrating assets, and developing shaders, among other things. Any technical
problems that arise up throughout a project are anticipated to be owned by the TA,
who will then work to fix them. Despite the fact that people with a variety of
educational backgrounds, such as those in art, design, mathematics, engineering, or
computer science are welcome, it is imperative to show that you are proficient in
both artistic and scientific fields. Technical Art Directors on the EA SPORTSTM FC
team receive direct reports from Technical Artists.

Qualifications
Preferred qualifications for this role include:

Ideally, a minimum of 1 year of experience in cinematic or game production.


A bachelor's degree in a related field (or an equivalent qualification).
Proficient in effective communication with various stakeholders, including artists,
engineers, and managers.
Experience in scripting and programming with Python and C# (knowledge of C++ is a
bonus, but not mandatory).
Familiarity with 3D art packages, preferably Maya.
A problem-solving mindset, particularly in testing and debugging technical issues.
Willingness to embrace the unknown and tackle new challenges, demonstrating
creative thinking to overcome technical obstacles.
A strong passion for games.

Your Qualifications:

The Challenge Ahead/The Exciting Journey Ahead:

You will use your extraordinary rigging abilities in the capacity of a technical
artist to develop the character creation pipeline tools. You will be in charge of
planning, developing, and constructing pipelines and tools in addition to making
and evaluating character rigs. Working on complex problems and creating workflows
to improve quality and streamline processes are all part of this dynamic
profession, which also involves engaging with artists and other engineers in the
field of character pipelines. You will also have the possibility to contribute
significantly to quality assurance, which will help us guarantee the perfection of
our character systems. You will report to a team Development Director as part of
your reporting structure, and you will gain access to the Technical Art Directors'
advice and experience.

In your day-to-day responsibilities, you will be involved in the following:

Collect user requirements and utilize them to design, debug, test, and uphold high-
quality, reusable code.
Collaborate with customers, including artists and engineers, to develop and assist
in the creation of pipelines, tools, and automation processes. These will
facilitate the seamless flow of content from its source, through curation, and into
the asset management system.
Engage in code reviews, contribute to best practice documentation, and participate
in other technical community projects.
Create and implement comprehensive test suites specifically tailored for workflows
and pipelines, ensuring their effectiveness and efficiency.

You possess the following qualifications:

A minimum of 3 years of experience as a rigger or in a related technical artist


role.
Proficiency in working with Python.
Previous experience collaborating with Riggers and/or Animators of various skill
levels in the gaming or film industry.
In-depth familiarity with production pipelines and commonly used DCC applications
such as Maya, Motionbuilder, and others, gained through working in the VFX, film,
or gaming sectors.
A bachelor's degree in Animation, Rigging, or a related field, or equivalent
training and professional experience.
Expertise in testing the reliability and output of assets generated within
traditional rigging pipelines.

Additional qualifications that would be advantageous:

Previous experience in the VFX, film, or gaming industry, specifically working with
production pipelines and commonly used DCC applications such as Houdini, Blender,
and others.
Familiarity with collaborating alongside cfx artists, lighting artists, and
software engineers in the gaming or film domains.
Proficiency in programming languages such as C#, C++, and a solid understanding
of .NET.
A bachelor's degree, minor, or relevant educational background in Computer Science,
or equivalent professional experience.
Knowledge of sound software engineering practices, including design patterns and
object-oriented design principles.

The Senior Technical Artist (Sr TA) serves as a crucial link between artists and
engineers, playing an integral role within the art team. They collaborate closely
with artists, project managers, software engineers, and the Technical Art team. The
primary responsibilities of the Sr TA encompass various aspects such as art
production workflows, tool development, pipeline management, asset optimization and
integration, and shader development. Sr TAs are expected to take ownership of any
technical issues that arise during their projects and ensure their resolution. This
often involves delegating tasks and mentoring junior team members. While
individuals from diverse backgrounds such as Art, Design, Mathematics, Engineering,
or Computer Science are welcome, it is essential to demonstrate proficiency in
working with both artistic and scientific domains. Senior Technical Artists report
directly to Senior Technical Art Directors.

Your qualifications should ideally include:

A minimum of 6+ years of experience in cinematic or game production, with a track


record of contributing to at least 3 AAA games or movies.
A bachelor's degree in a related field (or an equivalent qualification) is desired.
Proficient in effective communication with diverse audiences, including artists,
engineers, and managers.
Strong scripting and programming skills in Python and C#. Knowledge of C++ is a
bonus, but not mandatory.
Expert-level knowledge of 2D and 3D art packages, specifically Maya and Photoshop.
Familiarity with Houdini and Substance Designer is an additional advantage.
