Lesson Idea
☐ Teacher-directed: There is no student voice and choice in the activities. Students are guided by the
teacher's direction and expectations.
☐ Student-Led: Students are given voice and choice in the activities. They may select the topic for
presentation and/or determine the tool they will use to meet the learning goal. Products of
learning will be uniquely designed. Teacher simply facilitates the learning in a lesson like this.
☐ Project-based and/or Publishable: Students are completing projects to demonstrate their learning
and the projects can be shared outside of the classroom. This objective could be reached by
displaying the project on the school’s morning newscast, posting the project to the classroom
blog, presenting it to another class, or publishing it via an outside source.
Basic Productivity Presentation Tool
Lesson Idea
With this activity I am going to arrange, my students in groups distribute different sentences
that contain the sequence, first, next then and last. I will have each student read their
sentences out loud and then draw a picture to match their sentence they have.
To make students aware of their goal I will inform them that they are going to make slides
for a presentation. Students will utilize the technology by working in groups creating a five-
page slide. The teacher will be guiding the students step by step on how to create their slide.
Feedback will be provided by me making the PowerPoint a shared document amongst the
groups which allows me to write comments or notes along the side of the presentation.
The lesson will be concluded by presenting the presentation live in class and showing the
students their work that they put together as a team.
Managing the technology/engagement: Describe a way to use this technology in a way that
gets students actively involved in authentic tasks and contexts? How will you manage the
classroom behaviors on the technology:
In this assignment I have it where children are gathering sentences that they where handed
and are able to collaborate with one another,
and even draw pictures so they can draw pictures on their tablet to create the vision of their
story and have it come into a slideshow.
Co-use/Co-engagement is something that I have implemented in this assignment because I
want the children to be able to work amongst each other in a group and problem solve.
Universal Design for Learning (UDL):
The technology tool that I have selected to support and enhance the kid’s learning
experiences in the classroom, allows students to use visual, audio and language assistance,
for those that need assistance. It allows students to be hands on and interactive with creating
slides.
Reflecting on enhanced learning:
I really think this will help students see the sequences in action to see how things come
together when going step by step to see what comes first, second, then, and last. The
students will be able to understand the meaning of how to create a sequence and learn how
to create a PowerPoint. The part of the lesson that I look forward to is when the students get
their sentences, and they start to be creative in drawing their pictures to go along with their
sentences. It would be cool to see how the picture comes together to unfold the telling of the
story. Then to see them put their ideas together to create a book and it is completed, this
would really be amazing to see.
