These words help find words

compared to the printed

Dictionary
A dictionary is a reference tool
that provides an alphabetical
listing of words and their
meanings. A dictionary can
have many different features
that can give you a great deal
of information about a word
beyond just the meaning. They
are useful to find the proper
spelling of a word and some
will show you how the word is
phonetically pronounced. In
many cases, they provide you
with a list of possible synonyms
and antonyms which can be a
helpful reference when you are
writing.
Thesaurus
A thesaurus is a tool that is
found mostly on paperbacks,
that lists synonyms of words
you are using in your own
work. Often, it will also list a
variety of antonyms. They can
be helpful references tools

alphabetical order. These are
written in bold.
Each entry word has the
following information:
Pronunciation - This is
separated into syllables and tells
you how to pronounce the entry
word;
Parts of Speech - This
abbreviation tells you what part
of speech the defined word is;

Definition - This explains the
meaning of the entry word. If
there is more than one meaning,
the definition is divided by
numbers. Also, an example
sentence is often used to make
the meaning clearer.
