A. SETTING The setting of the story is at Barrio
Nagrebcan at Bauang,La Union during the
1940s
B. CHARACTERS The characters of this is story are the
following:
Baldo-the younger brother who narrates
the story.
Leon/Noel: He is the one who went back
to province from Manila to introduce his
wife to his Family
Maria: The civilized wife of Leon from
Ermita,Manila.
Father: Who challenged Maria on her
way to their home.
Mother: A typical Ilocana
Ca Celin-Driver of the caratela
Aurelia: sister of Leon and Baldo
Labang: The Carabao
C. POINT OF VIEW The story “How my brother Leon brought
home his wife” was set during the 1930s
in Nagrebcan,Bauang La Union. The story
is told in the 1st person point of view and
this narrator is Baldo,the younger brother
of Leon.
D. THEME/MESSAGE The theme of this story is that one must
 preserve, even though certain sacrifices,
in order to reach one’s goal.
E. CONFLICT The main conflict is Leon’s father, he
doubt that Maria can’t live in a province
where Leon her husband live because she
grew up in a city.
F. RESOLUTION Maria and Leon entered in the room and
Baldo went out. According to what Baldo
said, Maria cope up well in the life of
rural area. It means that Leon’s father
accepted Maria
G. PLOT
a) Exposition
b) Rising Action Baldo is ignoring his brother’s question
about why did they have to go in the waig
instead of the Camino Real
c) Climax Maria said that she’s afraid that Leon’s
father may not like him.
d) Resolution Maria and Leon entered in the room and
Baldo went out. According to what Baldo
said, Maria cope up well in the life of
rural area. It means that Leon’s father
accepted Maria
e) Denouement The inciting action of the story was when
"she stepped down to the Carretela of Ca
Celin with a quick,delicate grace. She look
very lovely, she was tall. She looked up to
my brother with a smile, and her
forehead was leveled to his mouth". It
goes when Leon introduced Maria as his
wife to his younger brother, Baldo whose
thinking deeply if father will like Maria.
 He's thinking if Maria can survive or will
fit in the life in barrio or rural areas than
urban city where she grew up.

LITERATURE
a) CULTURE The story “How My Brother Leon Brought
Home a Wife” was set during the 1930s in
Nagrebcan, Bauang La Union. The conflict
shown in the story is centered between
Maria and herself, as well as the society
by which Baldo and Leon lived in. We
know that Maria is from a city while her
husband Leon is from a province.
b) HISTORY Leon and his wife Maria are about to
return to Leon's village after getting
married. They had met in the city and
Maria has never lived in a village. They
are greeted by Baldo, Leon's younger
sibling, as their horse carriage stops
outside the village.
c) ENVIRONMENT Environment-Leon brought a wife to his
original home nagrebcan,La Union. His
wife,Maria is a woman who grew up in a
city. She was afraid that maybe his father
in law and Leon's family will not accept
her as Leon's wife nor not liking her but
then,Leon came to his hometown with a
wife.
