D 250 C
Red P → white P

Answer A

Solution White phosphorus is an allotrope of phosphorus that is highly reactive in nature. It is

mainly prepared by the reaction of Ca3(PO4)2 with SiO2 that leads to the formation of
P2O5. The resultant P2O5 reacts with coke to form P4 molecules.

2Ca3 (PO4 ) 2+6SiO2 +10C→ 6CaSiO 3+ 10CO+P 4

Thus, the given reaction is used for the preparation of white phosphorus

In case of B, the backward reaction is more feasible than the forward reaction which
is used for the preparation of phosphine

P 4 +3NaOH+3H 2 O →3NaH 2 PO 2 +PH 3

Thus it is not used for preparation of white phosphorus.

In case of C, the backward reaction is feasible compared to forward reaction

In case of D, the red phosphorous is formed from white phosphorous rather. The red
phosphorous is stable compared to white phosphorous

Hence, the correct answer is option A.
