Challenge to achieve carbon neutrality
• Air conditioner have become vital to people's loves around the world, and yet they
emit large amounts of CO2 through energy consumption during use and form the Environmental Vision 2050
impacts of refrigerants. The International Energy Agency (IEA) predicted in 2018 that
“demand for air conditioners will triple in the future.”
• In 2018, Daikin established Environmental Vision 2050, a plan that lays the
groundwork for the company to reach net zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050.
One of the growth strategy themes in the strategic management plan "FUSION25" is
the "challenge to become carbon neutral.
• The company aims to both contribute to the global environment and expand its
business by promoting environmental products utilizing its core technologies, such as
energy-efficient inverter air conditioners and heat pump heating/water heaters,
developing refrigerants with low global warming potential, providing energy-saving
solutions, and recovering and recycling refrigerants.
