APPLICATION
The field change program, which is subject of this service bulletin, is applicable to the coach types
mentioned below which are equipped with an intelligent air dryer:
DESCRIPTION
Van Hool has received a number of complaints about unusually large amounts of water in the air
tanks of the compressed-air installation. Investigation has now indicated that this problem is
caused by insufficient “regeneration” of the air dryer. This causes the filter element of the air dryer
to become saturated quickly, causing water and other contaminants to enter the compressed-air
installation. In winter operating conditions, this can mean that the proper functioning of the
compressed-air system is no longer guaranteed. To solve this problem, Van Hool organises a field
change program. What to do next can be read further on in this service bulletin.

Van Hool apologises for the discomfort caused by this field change program and wishes to thank
you in advance for your cooperation.
“Regeneration” is the process of blowing air in the opposite direction through the filter element of
the air dryer in order to free the filter element from water and contaminants. This process does not
take place at fixed intervals, but depends on the operating condition of the vehicle (air pressure,
engine speed, braking system active or not, etc.). The data coming from pressure sensors and
CAN-bus are collected in the CAN-bus gateway and used to determine the ideal regeneration
moment. Due to an error in the programming of the CAN-bus gateway, the regeneration process
does not run properly, resulting in too much water and contaminants entering the compressed-air
system.
Contact your Van Hool dealer/service point. State the construction number of your vehicle and
make an appointment for field change program "SB2134". The dealer/service point will check
which parameters have been loaded into the CAN-bus gateway. This takes only 10 minutes.
However, if new parameters have to be loaded into the CAN-bus gateway (and subsequently
the compressed air tanks removed from water), you should take into account a duration of
several hours. These works will of course be executed free of charge.
Only if new parameters have been loaded in the CAN-bus gateway: to rid the compressed-
air installation of the last water residues, it is necessary that you drain the compressed-air
tanks twice a week during the first month through the drain valves on the air tanks.
WARNING!
Observe safe shop practices at all times.
NOTE: The mentioned work procedure is made available through the customer portal under the
section "Work procedures for dealers and service points".
Step Action
1 Make sure the “TEXA IDC5” diagnostic software has been installed on your laptop.
2 Connect the laptop to the OBD diagnostic socket of the vehicle by means of the “TEXA
NAVIGATOR” and the connecting cable.
3 Open the "TEXA IDC5" diagnostic software on your laptop.

13 Note the number listed under “Productiondataset” (figure shows “11686114 B5” as
example). In order to guarantee a correct follow-up and correct administration, you will
also be asked further on during registration in step 23 to enter this number in the
“Remark” field.

17 Is one of the following numbers listed as “Productiondataset”?
11570533 E3
11570533 E4
11686114 B2
11686114 B3
11686114 B4
If so, go to step 18.
If not, go immediately to step 23.
18 Provide the CAN-bus gateway with new parameters according to one of the options
below:
New parameters for Paccar-DAF MX.. H2 engine: 11570533 E5
New parameters for Paccar-DAF MX.. H3 engine: 11686114 B5
Option 2:
To be used if the Wabco diagnostic software “GATWAY DIAGNOSTIC” is
installed on your laptop but you are not in the possession of a WABCO pin
code to load parameters into the CAN-bus gateway
Phase Description
1 You make sure that the Wabco diagnostic software “GATWAY
DIAGNOSTIC” has been installed on your laptop.
2 You make sure that “TeamViewer QuickSupport” has been installed
on your laptop. “TeamViewer QuickSupport” can be downloaded free
of charge via www.teamviewer.com.
3 You address your regular contact person at After-Sales department
with respect to service bulletin SB2134.
4 Start the “TeamViewer QuickSupport” program on your laptop and
communicate "Your ID" and "Password" to Van Hool.
5 Van Hool takes over your laptop to load the new parameters into the
CAN-bus gateway.

19 Release the pressure from the compressed-air installation through the drain valves on
the air tanks. Make sure you have depressurised all air tanks.
20 Unscrew the drain valves from all air tanks and let the compressed-air tanks “drain” for
at least 4 hours.
21 Then screw the drain valves back into the air tanks.
22 Start the engine and pressurize the compressed-air system to maximum operating
pressure.
23 Register the work as follows:
a. Login on the Van Hool customer portal.
b. Enter the vehicle identification number of the modified vehicle. Then click on
“SHOW DOCUMENTS”.
c. Click on the blue registration button which is located behind service bulletin
SB2134.
d. Depending on the work done, write the following text in the "Remark" field:
CAN-BUS gateway parameters OK + number noted in step 13
CAN-BUS gateway parameters not OK (= new parameters loaded +
compressed-air installation removed from water)
Labour allowance will only be awarded after registration of the operations.
