serving at 12:30.

Again it is at Pavilion #1. So it is FOOD, CAR GAMES, FUN, SNATCH

=====================================================================

July 12th Mon Valley Care Center cruise

Nine Model A Fords participated in this

nice get together hosted by Howard
and Dolly Sigler. Also there were
Mike/Cookie Jacobetz, Keith,
Keithy/Eleanor Waltower, Bob/Kathy
Marhefka, Fran Olliver, JackD, Don
Unger, David Lyle, and Ed/Dolores
Weinheimer. Jeff Amodeo joined us
with his ol’ Chrysler. Then on to
HogFathers BBQ in Monongahela for
dinner. A great day with friends! (psst,
also a minor adjustment for Jack’s new
ignition points in the HogFather’s parking lot).
Club Director Outlines His New Plan for Games at the Annual Picnic
Frank Porta has come up with a grand idea for a new game at the annual picnic. While past games
involved our real Model A Fords, this game is open to anyone wishing to participate.
Have you heard of the Pinewood Derby cars? These are simple cars made usually by Boy Scouts to race
on an inclined ramp against other Pinewood Derby cars. So Frank’s plan is to have club members or
their friends or grandkids to make a car to compete in the racing at the picnic.
As determined by the Pinewood Derby rules, the cars are a specific size with exact specifications as to
the weight and the plastic wheels used to make the car. Kits that have the wheels and a block of wood
to shape are available for about $8.00 on the internet or in hobby shops everywhere.
However, this will be the 3 River Derby and other than being limited to the standard 2-3/4” wide,
there are no other requirements or specifications. Unfortunately, in all competitive events, there may
be some speculation or even betting taking place based on the competition level of the races.
Cheating should be against the rules, but since there are no rules and no enforcements actions, we
cannot prevent this part of the activity either. The only encouragement is to try to participate in the
races and enjoy the fun. There are no extra points for cars that look like a Model A Ford but that
would be great to see some versions. For Amazon or Walmart.com just search for Pinewood Derby Kit
or find one at your local hobby shop.

And, coming to the Connellsville Airport, Sept 7 th – 10th …
