1. The commercial that I’ve watched is Vicks VapoRub™ and the message of it is the power
of care. When you care for someone and are cared for in return, it changes who you are and
who you will become.
2. Rene Descartes said that "man is born a blank slate." I beg to disagree. I choose to hold
fast in the belief that every person was born with an instinct, a reflex to love. And that it
is something that never disappears no matter how much of the world's inequalities dyes
us with its stain. I see humans like walking sentient campfires in the depths of a cold and
dark abyss. The deeper they go in, the lesser they burn; but as I've said before, in each
of us is a small natural warmth--all it takes is another one to get close enough, until both
of them spark a flame. So, no one really learns how to love, per se, we are only ever
reminded of it by another, as the way this story did to me.
3. The message was conveyed with a story that involves a coincidental meeting between a
stereotypical hoodlum and an abandoned infant. I feel as if the characters are similar in
a way that both have no bearing in where they are in life. Just two wandering souls who
found comfort and purpose by fulfilling each other’s need. The hoodlum found purpose
(something that we all as humans cannot do without) by providing care and protection
for the infant. By nurturing the infants need to be loved, the man found salvation, a sort
of self-forgiveness, a chance to be better.
4. As I’ve watched the commercial, I’ve felt emotional and proud on one of the scene
where he fully transformed and change himself for the better future of the child, that he
is deserving enough to fully adopt the infant.
5. The target audience of the message are someone who is lost, someone who has no idea
what they are doing in life. It’ll make them feel that there is hope, that is not too late to
change for someone you care and love.
6. The modes that were used in the commercial are aural mode and gestural mode.
7. The message of the commercial is clear and understandable that it effectively integrates
the different modes that are used, it’s not confusing when different modes are
combined. It created a masterpiece and a touching message for anyone who watches it.
