Pirate Ship Game
Pirate Ship Game
Assembly Instructions
1. Print the full-color or black-and-white game board (pages 3-4 or 7-8) and the folder label,
game markers, and die (page 6 or 10).
2. Trim off the white border on both sheets of the game board. Cut out the folder label,
game markers, and die.
3. Paste the game board sheets into an open file folder so that the “game path” runs
continuously through the center of the folder when it lies flat. Paste the folder label on
the tab of the file folder.
4. Assemble the die using tape or glue.
How to Play
1. Select approximately 15 Word Cards from behind the Review divider in each child’s All
About Spelling Review Box or write spelling words on the blank cards on page 5 or 9. Each
player will have his own draw pile.
2. Have each player place a marker on the start position of the game board.
3. In turn, have each player roll the die and move his marker the appropriate number of
spaces. Select a card from the player’s stack of Word Cards. The player must then spell
the word out loud, on paper, or with letter tiles. If the word is spelled correctly, the player
may move ahead one additional space. If the word is not spelled correctly, the player
may be given clues to correct the spelling, but he does not move ahead. The card is then
moved to the bottom of the stack.
4. If a player lands on a special space during the course of play, he should follow the
instructions in the space. This ends his turn.
5. The game continues until someone reaches the treasure chest at the finish line.
