He stalks both Kathy and Gabriel, following them at night. 2) Theo breaks into Alicia's home, ties her and Gabriel up, and confronts them about the affair before leaving. Alicia then shoots and kills Gabriel. 3) Five years later, Theo gets a job at the psychiatric facility where Alicia is a patient. He hopes to get her to open up about the murder. However, Alicia writes in her diary that Theo was the real killer before he can silence her forever.

    REAL TIMELINE OF

    The Silent
    Patient
    Theo faber tricked everyone into thinking he was the good
    guy, but what really happened that let to his demise?

    KATHY'S AFFAIR
    Theo discovers emails Kathy has been
    sending to another man. This drives
    Theo into a depressive and angry
    state, resulting in him following Kathy
    at night to see the mystery man,
    which turns out to be Gabriel.

    ALICIA'S
    STALKER
    Alicia starts to write in her journal
    that there is a man watching her
    almost everyday. The man turns
    out to be Theo, following Gabriel to
    his home and studying Alicia.

    GABRIEL'S
    MURDER
    Theo breaks into Alicia's home and ties
    her and Gabriel to chairs. After
    breaking the news about the affair to
    Alicia, Theo leaves the house. Alicia,
    feeling betrayed, grabs the gun and
    shoots Gabriel herself. "He killed me"-
    Alicia Berenson.

    THE GROVE
    5 years after the murder, Theo
    applies to The Grove as a forensic
    psychiatrist to help Alicia come to
    terms with what happened. Alicia
    begins to speak again, telling Theo
    about what happened that night. In
    that moment, they both knew she was
    lying.

    ALICIA'S FINAL
    ENTRY
    Theo discovering that Alicia knew
    who he was, attempts to silence her
    forever by injecting her with
    morphine. While the drug was taking
    affect, Alicia wrote one last thing in
    her diary, incriminating Theo. Her
    diary is revealed to Theo at the end
    by an officer, the only entry he has
    not read.
