Possessive pronouns ‫( ضمائر الملكية‬Egalik olmoshlari)

Subject Object Possessive Possessive

adjective Pronoun
I Me My Mine
You You Your Yours
He Him His His
She Her Her Hers
It It Its -
We Us Our Ours
They Them Their Theirs

Be carefull!
Possessive pronouns do NOT have an Apostrophe: ‫ضمائر الملكية ليس لها فاصلة‬

We can use a Possessive pronouns instead of a full noun phrase to avoid repeating
words:
Is that John’s car? No, it’s mine (NOT No, it’s my car)
Whose phone is this? Is it yours? (NOT Is it your phone)
Her dress is grey. No hers is black (NOT Her dress is black)
I gave him a Pen
She still loves him
He hit me not him
They don’t like us
Neither of us forget about it ‫ال أحد منا ينسى ذلك‬
Each of us have our own house ‫كل واحد منا لديه منزله الخاص‬
There is nothing wrong with that, though we often choose phrases when we
think the meaning is clear.
That is why people would often say “No it’s mine” instead of “No it’s my car” But
strictly speaking it is not necessary

Put the apostrophe after “s” if the noun already ends in “s”. this includes most
plural nouns, and some singular nouns too
My sisters’ books ( the books that belong to my sisters / more than sister
James’ books ( the books that belong to James)
The bus’ wheels (the wheel of the bus)
Otherwise, put the apostrophe before “s”
My sister’s books (the books that belong to my sister/ only one sister
Tim’s books (the books that belong to tim)
The car’s wheels (the wheel of the car)
