DOING A PHILOSOPHICAL
REFLECTION ON A
SITUATION FROM A
HOLISTIC PERSPECTIVE
REFLECTION
❑Reflection is vital in ensuring that our
actions ad decisions are well thought
out and are done with due regard for
their implications and consequences on
ourselves, others and surroundings.

Example:
▪Learning from your previous mistakes
and not repeating them again.
▪Evaluating and knowing the best choice
from a set of options .
❑Reflections helps us to understand
ourselves and our actions better.
❑When we reflect, we can judge
whether our actions or decisions are
reasonable or not. Taking time to
analyze your decisions and actions is
one vital skill that will greatly help you
as you encounter more challenges in
life.
What is Human self-reflection?

❑It is the capacity of humans to exercise

introspection or self- examination and to
attempt to learn more about their
fundamental nature and essence.
❑ Philosophy has an important place in
our daily lives. Engaging in philosophical
reflection leads to the development of
beneficial skills that individuals can apply
in everyday situations.
HOW DOES ONE ENGAGE
IN REFLECTION?

❑Reflection requires a person to be willing to

examine one’s thoughts, feelings, and actions
to learn more about one’s life and experiences.
❑For instance, the moment you wake up you
can already reflect upon the things that you
plan to do for the day.
Your reflection on buying blouse
The simple task of buying a t-shirt or blouse
becomes something much more. If you concentrate
only on the simple questions, you would just buy
that blouse or the shirt immediately. But reflection
allows you to an opportunity to think more deeply
about your action, your motivations for doing such
an action, and even its possible consequences.
Constant reflection may even help you make a
wiser choices and improve your spending habits in
the future.
1. Have you ever had an
experience where reflecting
on your actions benefitted
you?

2. Has reflection ever helped

you avoid making a bad
decision?
BEGIN WITH THE
END MIND
ENGAGE IN REFLECTION ON THE
FOLLOWING SITUATIONS. GIVE THE
SIMPLE AND DEEP QUESTIONS YOU
WOULD ASK YOURSELF IN THESE
SITUATIONS
1. You go into a restaurant and the waiter hands
you a menu. You are deciding which dish to
order.
2. You and your friends are deciding on a “fun”
thing to do at the mall.
3. You open your wallet and saw that you still have
a hundred pesos left from your weekly allowance.
