Walton Attendance Procedures

Late check ins, Dismissals, Absence notes

We have a “paperless” dismissal and check in procedure, for when your student needs to leave school early or is late.

1. Students needing to leave early, will either drop off a parental note at the Attendance office 1 st thing in the morning, or parents will email us a
dismissal 1st thing in the morning. Please do not send dismissals through CTLS Parent.
2. Please have the following on all notes:
Student first/ last name-Student Id #-Time/date/reason for leaving-Parent phone number
3. We will process the note and send a confirmation email to the student at their cobb email address. They can pull it up on their phone and show it
to the teacher to leave class.
4. If they come back to school later that afternoon, they will reply to our email as soon as they step back in the building.
5. We will update their attendance in the system (and email their current teacher if the return time is during a class period) showing that they have
returned.
6. Students who are not feeling well, please go to the nurse’s office! We can facilitate a dismissal without parents having to come into the building.
7. Students checking in late to school for the first time that day, will stop by our office (anyone coming in after 8:30) and use their phone to scan one
of the QR codes. Parents can email us a note if they wish the tardy to be excused, and we will update their student’s attendance record.
8. If students do not have their phone with them, we are happy to do a manual tardy/dismissal for them.
9. If your student is absent, please email us directly or send a note through CTLS within 3 days of the absence. If we do not receive a note, the
absence will remain unexcused.

Just a few things to note-

Please send dismissals as early as you can, so that we have time to process. Request received during a class period will be sent to the students in between
classes.

Remember we cannot interrupt instruction, and do not have a way to deliver notes to the classrooms. Parents with last minute request or those coming
to the school without prior notice, may experience delays in retrieving their student.
