a. Course Description: Shear and bending moment diagrams for frames, equilibrium,
stability, and determinacy; influence lines for determinate structures; deflection of beams

d. Course Topics/Brief Outlines: The subject matter for this course includes the material in
Chapters 1 to 9 of the text and additional material in the form of lecture notes and
handouts to cover the following topics:

• Types of structures and loads.


• Analysis of statically determinate structures (Beams and Frames).
• Analysis of Statically determinate trusses.
• Internal loading in structural members; (Shear/Moment Diagrams).
• Influence lines for statically determinate structures.
• Deflections of structures.

1. Calculate the appropriate load case for structures using gravity
