1.1. Description
Three routes are planned to collect sanitary water from buildings D1, D2, D3, D5 and D6. Run
B-W collects water mainly from buildings D1, D6 and D5. Run B-SE collects water from the
southern buildings D2 and D3. Run B-NE collects water from the northern buildings D2 and
D3
This calculation pack contains the calculations used to size the external sanitary network at
Plot A of the RAC.
The Plot B network has not been updated with respect to the Schematic Design phase as flow
rates and location of discharge points are under review.
The Water Consumption Method estimates the design flow at each discharge point into the
KSP network, based on a proportion (85%) of the water consumption, multiplied by a peaking
factor, in accordance with guidance from Omrania.
P= Population
Daily consumption data has been converted into an average flow rate in litres per second
assuming 10h occupancy per day.
The flow rate calculated by the Discharge Unit method has been used to size the on-plot
network. Autodesk Storm and Sanitary Analysis 2020 hydraulic modelling software has been
used to calculate flows in each pipe in the network which has been sized accordingly to
ensure no full bore flow within the network (SBC 701).
Flows discharged to each manhole per type of buildings have been calculated as shown
below:
The calculation of flow generated in each building made in the schematic design needs to
be adjusted to estimate the flow discharged to each of the manholes in a given building.
For this purpose, the DU factor has been considered by distributing the estimated global
flow according to the DU number of each outlet.. MEP report KSP-RBT-RAC-ENG-BSE-CAL-
5013 calculates these DU values.
