Day 1

How do respiratory and circulatory work together?

The respiratory system takes in oxygen. The alveoli of the respiratory system then take the oxygen,
and transfer it to the capillaries of the circulatory system. Then the oxygen is taken to all parts of the body.
Also, the capillaries bring deoxygenated blood, which has carbon dioxide which the body does not need to
the alveoli. The alveoli then excrete the carbon dioxide via the nostrils to the atmosphere.

Day 2
Can respiratory and circulatory system function without each other? Explain your answer.
The respiratory and circulatory systems work together to provide oxygen to the cells. Without the
two systems, we can’t breathe that and eventually we will die. Oxygen serves as an essential element
supporting life and as an integral part of the atmosphere.

Day 3
Give at least one respiratory and circulatory disease/disorder and describe it.
Emphysema
Emphysema is a serious respiratory disease, which is another form of COPD. The most common
cause is smoking. Those who suffer from emphysema have trouble exhaling air from their lungs. Cigarette
smoke damages the air sacs in the lungs to a point where they can no longer repair themselves.

Hypertension
Hypertension is another name for high blood pressure. It can lead to severe health complications
and increase the risk of heart disease, stroke, and sometimes death.

Emphysema
Since smoking causes most cases of emphysema, the best way to prevent it is to not smoke. It's also
important to try to avoid lung irritants such as secondhand smoke, air pollution, chemical fumes, and dusts.
It can also help to stay healthy to avoid diseases.

Hypertension
I must practice healthy living habits like being physically active, to help prevent high blood
pressure. I will also maintain a healthy weight by eating a balanced diet or exercising regularly.
