Top Challenges the IT Ecosystem Will

Face in 2022
Finding and retaining the best people, enhancing security, and developing comfortable and robust
remote work environments are all challenges that IT leaders will confront in 2022. However, the
current pandemic has exacerbated these issues.

The Great Resignation has increased the skills gap. Previously a business objective, support for
distributed teams is now a need. Securing employees' own mobile devices and other remote work
equipment has become more important as the quantity of these devices has increased as offices
have emptied.

Along with these worries, new ones have emerged, including a surge in pandemic-related burnout
and a scarcity of the chips that power IT and the entire sector. Here is my perspective on the top
challenges the IT ecosystem will face in 2022-

1. The Talent Hunt is On

Finding quality IT talent is the most common difficulty tech leaders face in 2022. In the coming year,
the battle for top talent will be strong. While distributed workforces have increased the talent pool,
there are still insufficient workers with the essential abilities that the new normal demands.

Many people re-evaluated their job trajectories as a result of the pandemic. While balancing the
expense of attracting top talent, we know that many employees prefer to work in the office or be
given a hybrid working option. This means that our offices must be able to accommodate a variety of
workers — for example, every conference room and workstation must have videoconferencing
capabilities — This type of flexibility will be highlighted in our job descriptions. As we all learn as we
go, it will be critical to listen and get input on what is and isn't working.
2. Mismatch of Skillsets

Most corporate leaders identify a skill gap between their existing employees' capabilities and
important areas. This offers a unique challenge for all organizations, as we must fight to guarantee
that our personnel possesses the necessary skills to propel our company forward. Furthermore,
because workers need digital skills to flourish in hybrid or remote working environments, flexible
work options have raised the demand for digital transformation and attracting and retaining
essential talent.

3. Keeping Hybrid and Telecommuting Environments Afloat

Audiovisual technologies are a continual source of consternation for CIOs because they raise a slew
of cost, latency, and network dependability concerns. There's a lot of concern that these
technologies haven't been utilized in the workplace in over two years and that there isn't a standard
for individuals connected from home. The transition back to work will be difficult if firms have not
invested in AV solutions that can provide a stable, reliable conferencing environment that seamlessly
connects workers from different locations.

To establish a dependable AV infrastructure, every forward-thinking firm is analyzing the needs of in-
office and remote workers. This includes PC docking stations, lighting, and cameras, all of which help
create a professional atmosphere at home.

4. Defending Against Cybercriminals

To combat hackers, cybersecurity capabilities must be continuously and rigorously improved.

Companies are increasingly enlisting the help of third-party security services.

Proactive monitoring techniques will relieve IT and security teams of fixing potential issues before
they turn into breaches and interrupt the cycle of security weaknesses that exist in hybrid business
models.
While it's difficult to overestimate the threat of cyberattacks, CIOS and CTOs are starting to see a
conflict between deploying the best available security measures while staying within a realistic
budget.

5. Scarcity of Technology
IT hardware and equipment supply chain concerns are real. Companies are preparing their
procurement strategies to avoid any bottlenecks that may arise as a result of the scarcity in 2022.
We're continuously on the hunt for new strategies to reduce chip use and keep track of supply.

6. Burnout
Employee burnout has increased as a result of the rising demands on IT teams, as finances haven't
kept pace with the increased workload. In 2022, these difficulties will continue to shape how IT
leaders carry out their responsibilities and their level of success. The real issue is a disconnect
between business decision-makers and IT leaders, and to reverse the trend, systemic organizational
reform is required.

Cross-training is an excellent approach to keep staff interested while also increasing their value.
Employees will be able to take on different projects, work with new team members, confront new
difficulties, and develop new skills as a result of strategies like job rotation. We're doing everything
we can to keep the talent we have happy, productive, and effective.

Companies should also concentrate on delivering tools at work that are as simple to use as
consumer technology.

We're living in the Golden Age of consumer-tech simplicity, and people want the same level of
simplicity, rapid gratification, and autonomy at work as they do at home. Businesses that want to
keep their staff happy and avoid irritation or resignations must continue to adopt RPA technologies,
bots, and smart applications.

7. Changing the Game

Change management, not technology, is the most difficult aspect of digital transformation, especially
in the uncertain times we live in. Transformation is difficult and requires effort, preparation, and
execution. The technological portion of a project is frequently the most straightforward.
Transitioning people accustomed to a specific system — or a specific procedure — can be difficult.

A Parting Word

As an IT leader, my advice to my counterparts across the globe is to concentrate on the individuals

involved in the process, each of whom brings their own unique viewpoint to the table. I prioritize
team efficiency, fostered by supportive people managers, and results while dealing with large-scale
changes across the organization. This equilibrium is critical. As a company, we've developed a culture
that prioritizes employee assistance. We must pay attention and be receptive to a wide range of
issues and requirements.

These are not to be overlooked. In order to implement changes, achieve transformational outcomes,
and limit company disturbance, we must also focus on results. In summation, to maintain efficiencies
at scale for their organizations, IT leaders must concentrate on the human factor augmented by
technology for high-value results across markets.
