Problems Biolyzer 100

1. Different types of LCD

For the Biolyzer 100 there are 3 types of LCD in use:

SN 400001 to 400059 Sharp LCD Art.-no.: 5-001-002-00

SN 401001 to 401040, 401044 to 401066 Hitachi LCD Art.-no.: 5-043-006-00
SN 401041/42/43, 401067 and higher Qunchuang LCD Art.-no.: 5-043-007-00

These LCD can be differentiated mainly by their connecting flat cables.

The Sharp LCD has a 20 pin signal flat cable; the Hitachi LCD has a 24 pin signal flat cable
and the Qunchuang LCD has a 40 pin signal flat cable.

2. Different types of keypad boards

The LCD is connected via the keypad board to the mainboard and according to the different
cables there are also different keypad boards in use.
It is possible to connect the Sharp LCD and the Hitachi LCD to the same keypad board type,
but the Qunchuang LCD uses another type.

3. Main board

The main board for all instruments is the same.

4. Solution in case of LCD problems

Sharp LCD:
a) Exchange to another Sharp LCD, if available
b) Exchange of the Sharp LCD by a Qunchuang LCD including the keypad board
and reinstall of the corresponding Win CE version for Qunchuang LCD.

Hitachi LCD:
a) Exchange to another Hitachi LCD, if available
b) Exchange of the Hitachi LCD by a Qunchuang LCD including the keypad board
and reinstall of the corresponding Win CE version for Qunchuang LCD.

Qunchuang LCD:
a) Exchange to another Qunchuang LCD.

5. Solution in case of WinCE system or operate softw are problems

Step1:
Check the status of two LEDs on the main board. (One is on and the other one is flashing)

Step2a:
If you find that two LEDs are both on all the time, it means that WinCE system got lost.
Then it is necessary to reinstall the Win CE version corresponding to the installed LCD type.

Step 2b:
If you find that the status of the two LEDs is OK (one is on and the other one is flashing), but the
lamp is off, please check that the lamp is OK and the connection between the lamp and the front
board is OK.
In case the lamp and the connection are ok, the Win CE system is ok and the software got lost.

Step 3:
Upgrade the software.
