Narrative Report
2018 Career Orientation of Grade 10 Students of Tumalim National High School

With the aim of educating the Grade 10 students of the kind of track they will take in the
Senior High School, Tumalim National High School held its annual career orientation for Grade
10 students last August 1.

Wearing their “dream” attire, the participants promptly lined up for their attendance. The
program started with the singing of the National Anthem followed by a prayer. Mrs. Maria Loisa
A. Cabingan, the Grade 10 Einstein adviser gave the welcome remarks. Furthermore, Mr.
Yhelmar D. Bait introduced the guest speaker.
 Mr. Reymar G. Mendoza, the School Registrar of Nicolites Montessori School started his
talk by showing pictures of famous Filipino businessmen and their stories of success. He
pointed out the importance of planning and creating career goals. Furthermore, the speaker
discussed about the factors that affect the students’ choices and the difference between a
career and hobby. He stressed that the Grade 10 students must set their goals as early as now.
He ended the first session by telling the success story of the owner of the KFC Corporation,
Colonel Sanders and left a message that achieving one’s dream will not happen in an instant
but in the right time.
 The participants, during break, made their special bag. These bags contained their
wishes and expectation on the career they want to take in the future.

Before the next session began, select pupils from Grade10 Newton gave an intermission
number.

Mr. Mendoza continued his talk. His second session focused on the SHS orientation. He
explained the strands that the participants will take. He also explained the rationale in the
implementation of SHS program. He also explained the benefits of choosing the different tracks
in the said program.
 There were also Grade12 students from Nicolites Montessori School who gave their
testimonies of their experiences in the SHS.

The event ended with the giving of certificates to the speakers and the participants.
