So as you can read on the title itself, the next topic is all about the retraction controversy

Is it genuine, or it is an act of forgery. One of the controversial issues in the study of life
works and writings of rizal is the historicity and veracity of certain acts, which allegedly
result had performed a few moments before he was led out to execution. More
specifically this alleged reconciliation with the Catholic Church and his objurgation of
masonry, known as the RETRATCTION.

Before we proceed and before we go on to our discussion lets define forirst what do we
mean by retraction

So retraction is A public statement made about an earlier statement that withdraws, cancels,

refutes, or reverse the original statement or ceases and desists from publishing the original

statement.

WHAT WAS THE RETRACTION ABOUT?

 Such document purportedly exists, allegedly signed by Rizal a few hours before his
execution.
 This document, referred to as "The Retraction" declares Rizal's belief in the Catholic
faith, and takes back everything he wrote against the Church.

nagsasabing siya raw ay isang Katoliko at binabawi niya lahat ng kanyang mga sinulat
laban sa simbahan. Nakilala ang dokumento bilang ang retraktasyon, “The
Retraction.”

DID RIZAL AND JOSEPHINE GOT MARRIED?

Father Balaguer testified he married Rizal and Josephine on Dec. 30 at 6 o'clock in the morning. After his
marriage, Rizal dedicated a Catholic devotion book, De la Imitacion de Cristo, to josephine. The
dedication read as follows: "to my dear and unhappy wife Josephine". (Garcia, 1964)

sa araw ng kanyang kamatayan. Isinulat niya dito, “To my dear and unhappy wife,
Josephine, December 30th, 1896, Jose Rizal.”
