FORD 6F35
HARSH REVERSE/HARSH 2-3 SHIFT
COMPLAINT: 2010 and up Ford Vehicles equipped with the 6F35 transaxle may exhibit a complaint of a
harsh application in Reverse and or a harsh up-shift into third gear, some complaints have
also mentioned a slight bind up sensation during the 2-3 up-shift transition as well.

CAUSE: The cause may be that a check ball in the valve body has damaged the check ball seat in the spacer
plate, creating a poor seal causing the harsh application. Refer to Figure 1 for an illustration of the
small parts in this valve body. Refer to Figure 2 for the location of the check ball in question and
the spacer plate hole that is damaged. Note: ATSG has also had reports of this check ball going
thru the spacer plate.

CORRECTION: To correct this condition, the valve body assembly will have to be replaced as the spacer plate is
not sold separately from the valve body. Note: This valve body assembly is prone to solenoid
regulator valve bore wear as was mentioned in the 2013 ATSG Seminar.
