Homework writing 7: Some people believe that exams are an

inappropriate way of measuring students’ performance and should

be replaced by continuous assessment. Do you agree or disagree with
this view?
People hold different views whether measuring pupils through exams or
continuous assessment brings more merits. While a number of citizens
believe that assessing students through exams would be better, I am
committed the notion that replacing by continuous evaluation is more
advantageous. The reasons for my contention are as follows.
Firstly, cheating on exams is a commonplace. Which I mean that
although students on the class do not learn very well, they can print their
lectures in papers to bring into examination room. Therefore, teachers do
not know their scores on the exams are really their ability or unfair play.
On the contrary, continuous assessment may rate exactly their ability
through quizzes, presentations or even methods. The rationale is that
these depend on their facility for presentation skills, potential ability that
they can not express what they have through exams. Take Holland as an
example, this education system force students to join only one exam in
their life, but in the fact that there are not any pupils being fail. Holland is
one of the best studies in the world, which enhance maximum ability of
students.
Secondly, committing suicide as a consequence of stress in study.
Nowadays, students are too busy studying their lessons, especially
forthcoming exams; they have to stand sacrifices and hardships like lack
of sleep or even shortage of vitamins. That can lead to make their spirits
worse; therefore, there are many students give up and pass away as a
result. For instance, students in China have to pass the significant
university entrance exam called “Cao khao”, lead to stresses for pupils
because of its chosen only a half.
In conclusion, I strongly recommend traditional exams should be replaced
by continuous assessment because it is the best way to approach to
assessing a student’s performance.
