• It leads to discrimination of innocent individuals
• It’s damaging and it undermines the principe of equality and justice

• 2017 report shows that black people are 3.64 times more likely to get arrest for drug offenses than white people
• Another study by the New York Civil Liebeties Union found that black people were more likely to be stopped and
frisked by the police than white individuals, even though they were less likely to be found with contrabands1

- August 28th, 1955
- 14-years-old in Money, Mississippi
- Emmett Till was visiting his family
- one eye was gouged out
- Accused of irting with a white woman
- barbed wire was wrapped around his neck
- Was kidnapped 3 days later
- his numerous wounds showed that he had
been tortured
- he was found by a river another three days
later
